Thank you for asking, I am waiting on my reply as well. I interview yesterday for their ADC consultant position. Anyone heard back yet?
I heard back after my first round interview to come in for a decision round which is this Friday (I choose a different office). Despite what people say on this board, hearing back right away is either really good or really bad. You are probably on hold, or they are interviewing others. I can't see them being done with FT interviews yet though.
I don't know for sure what the recruiting timeline is for the NY office, but I can offer some general insight here.
The firms don't typically make rolling offers - meaning they will not make an offer to any candidate until they have interviewed all candidates. What they will do is have a round table discussion - where everyone involved in the recruiting process meets to discuss the candidates - and from there they will decide on who the offers are going out to.
So if folks are still interviewing with BCG NY, then I'm not surprized you haven't heard back yet. Hang in there
So you mean that everyone in the recruitment has a say? Or just the ones that actually interviewed you?
They will discuss all applicants in a round table discussion, but the people who interviewed you will have the say. However, if you have interacted with others at the firm, whether formally or informally (like at a meet and greet or dinner), they will weigh in as well.
Interesting, FRP are you at a MBB? And how are they able to call back for offers that day? The process you outlined seems like it would take some time
I used to work for ATK, and now I help students prep for Consulting recruiting.
And there are some cases where the firm will call you back right away - so a "rolling offer". But this isn't the norm.
At IBM it's a round table discussion as well for strategy and transformation consulting.
Did you notice how literally zero people asked about how IBM's offer process works? It's because nobody cares.
To everyone else: MBB offers are usually extended same day. If you haven't heard back, it's because you probably didn't get the offer.
Please don't get your knickers in a bunch about waitlists, etc. There are no waitlists, there are no delays. After the end-of-day discussion, offerees are informed.
Take this guy with a grain of salt. My offer to a MBB was extended to me 3 days after I interviewed, though it was not for the NY Office. I'd say 10 days is not encouraging at the very least.
Is it the same for other firms, like Bain? I've heard some people from my school already hearing about getting the offer (usually right away) How do they do it..?
At my MBB office, we give offer same day or (rarely) day after interviews, regardless of how many interviews are left. May be different office by office. Declines tend to not be given until next Monday or after. Who wants to do that on a Friday night?
Interesting, are you guys targeting a range of FT people and not concerned about overstaffing? Or is your yield so high that you rarely give out more offers than spots and still end up with a desired FT class?
There are alot of factors involved in making offers, which is likely why you're seeing different approaches here.
One of the things the firms are considering is how many summer consultants (associates, BA's etc.) they are inviting back - and of those, how many have accepted. For example, there was one year when a top firm in Toronto didn't make any offers to BA's because they had an (unexpected) number of BA's accept full time offers. Obviously it wasn't as simple as I'm making it sound, but that's the general gist of it.
With other offices, perhaps they have higher hiring targets - and if and when they find someone who exceeds entry requirements, they make an offer right away, or shortly after. My guess is that these offices have more available spots, and as a result can make offers more quickly.
Other offices may have lower hiring targets, and as a result may need to review all of the candidates before they make offers, and fill the spots.
Regardless - I know it's a nerve racking situation to be in (waiting for a response), but hang in there - you will hear either way soon!
So I'm assuming that if I haven't heard back a week and a half after, I'm dinged? Well that's rough..
Either that or you're waitlisted (which is not a bad thing). Got a friend who got his McK offer after 2 weeks (though I would chalk it up to Asia Pacific being somewhat unstructured)

Just learned that I did not receive an offer. They told me that everything I did was good. The only feedback I got was that I made a hypothesis that did not make business sense in my second case. I observed a trend that the buyers of our client's product seems to be buying pricer product from our client's competitors, and I stated that observation as a part of my hypothesis that maybe the buyers are buying higher price product because they want to be associate with a higher quality brand, or because our competitor has a stronger marketing and distribution channel. I guess this lead the interviewer to think that I am not aware of the fact that buyers will not want to buy high price product, and also shows how high of a standard they have this year. I interviewed for an associate position at the BCG NY office this past Friday, October 12th, late in the day, and I haven't heard back yet. I'm hearing very conflicting things about when I should hear back, some people say I'm definitely dinged, others say it's normal, others say I may be wait listed and won't find out for a while of that's the case. The recruiter told us to expect to find out towards the end of the week after the interview (this week). Can anyone provide some insight as to what may be happening and whether I'm definitely dinged or I still have a chance? Has anyone heard back yet?
Hi, I also interviewed for BCG a few weeks ago and have not heard back but have been told this could mean I could be in a waitlist. Does anyone when are people in waitlists usually informed? Could it be after November where everyone has already responded?
