MBB Final Rounds, No response

Hi guys, Thanks for all your help on these forums.

I recently had my final rounds at an MBB firm. I can't tell how I did. I did have some structural mistakes but my math was solid. I am a APD candidate with an MD (physician). What does it mean if I haven't heard yet (6 days so far.) The other MD there got dinged that same night. I emailed the recruiter and was told that she will prompt the partner to make his call.

Am I probably waitlisted? Should I follow up? Or is the partner just taking a while to call cause its a rejection.

The reason I am antsy is because I need to send out my B-school applications and don't want to spend all the money if I don't have to. Any insight would be valuable.

Please let me know. Thank you.

Thanks.

That's disappointing though. Would have been nice to just get a quick call with the rejection news. Or if the recruiter had just told me to go ahead with my applications. My previous correspondences with this firm were so timely and positive. I guess things change after they decide. Oh wells.

Scotchtape400,

When I recruited for an MBB position it took them more than a week to get back to me. And I got the job! If you were a clear ding, they'd probably have contacted you right away, so even if you're waitlisted or on the edge there's still a chance. Good luck!

Yep that happened to my friend too. However, another college friend (she's 1 yr junior than me) has just recently finished her final round at McK, it's been almost 2 weeks and she hasn't got any phone call yet. Should I keep telling her to hold out or would that be a ding already (although I'd find it rude if the firm doesn't even bother to inform their final round candidate)

Quarterlife,

I would recommend your friend to give HR a call or at least send an email. Two weeks is a long time without any response. She should still keep her hopes up, though. This is just a guess, but maybe things are taking extra long because they are offering her a position, but at a different office. My own case was a bit special, which caused the delayed feedback.

Scotchtape,

I'm only starting next summer, so I'm not fully aware of how the final recruiting decisions are made. However, my guess is that the partner have a get-together and discuss who they'd like to bring onboard. If one of the partners interviewing you is out of town, it could take a few extra days.

Please update when you get feedback!
