Sure as hell should be. I wouldn't worry so much being classified as "target" coming from RPI. I think the only question is does MBB conduct OCRs at RPI.
You realize that what you just said is the textbook definition of "target school," correct? If a firm conducts OCR at a school, it is a "target" for that firm.

The breakdown comes when people begin using "target" to refer to the informal group of schools that every major financial services and consulting firm recruits at and using "semi target" for those schools where a significant number of firms but not all recruit at. A school like Stern that is not a target for DB or UBS but is for GS, MS, JPM, Barclays, Citi, Credit Suisse is often referred to both as a "target" and "semi target" depending on the person talking. A school like Stanford that enjoys OCR from literally every bulge bracket and MBB firm is universally considered a "target."

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.

Sure. If we are limiting this definition of "target" to firms that interview at your school.

More importantly and most certainly more practically - RPI will look great on an application not stemming from an OCR. I think you have an excellent shot at getting interviews with a dgree from RPI regardless if the firm makes it out to your campus.
