Frederic w. cook and co
I am beginning an interview process for a consultant role at Frederic W. Cook & Co. I have looked around on the internet and not found much else other than their website. Can anybody give me some information on them regarding, prestige, exit opportunities, MBA placement, and compensation?
Thanks
I've seen their name come up a few times in the past. The firm has a very specific niche, in that it helps corporations determine compensation rates and structure for senior executives and board members. That being said, its far too narrow of a consulting focus to warrant "exit opportunities." I'm sure they're a solid firm, but if your goal is top MBA placement, you should look elsewhere. Consider Financial Analyst positions at F500 companies before FWC.
They appear to be a very specific focused firm. While I can't offer much on their roles specifically, a review of the Partner's profiles shows their history, which can be very useful for understanding the competitors. (One is Former McKinsey).
As for MBA placement, I have no experience - but you might be able to build some very strong relationships if you're working specifically on behalf of boards, and HR departments are always connected within business. It wouldn't be a common path to an MBA if you get there, but it would seem there are far worse places to start a career.
But you'll need to be very clear on your transferable skills....that being said, if you can't show those you shouldn't be a consultant anyway, there is no room for imposter syndrome when you're young in consulting.

I took TylerT's advice and checked out the Manager Director Profiles. Definitely changed my view on the company, as many of the MD's come from top schools or distinguished backgrounds. I also like how the firm lists all of their consultants, which tell you a thing or two about firm size and culture. Give it a look.
So how would yall compare fwc to a financial analyst role at sabre holdings (one of my current offers)?
thanks for the input so far!
I also have an offer with JP Morgan as an operations analyst, but i dont think I need to ask your opinions on that as it seems most of this forum recommends staying away from operations.
Depends. You mentioned you wanted an MBA, but what would you use the MBA for? If your end goal is MBB Consulting, then definitely go with FWC. If your end goal is to be a CFO of a major corporation, then the Sabre FA position might be the better fit. Of course, both are radically different from one another. What are the pay packages? Don't need numbers, just mention if one offers significantly more or slightly more than the other. Also, nothing wrong with Ops at JPM, just doesn't suit your end goal of an MBA that well.
