Deloitte Second Round Interview with Senior Manager

A little background, I am a MBA in Finance with 6 years of Financial Services (Asset Management, Capital Markets, Hedge Fund) experience. A majority of my roles have been client service, operational and compliance type roles. I received an email and call from Deloitte for interest in an Strategy and Operations role. I have "second round" phone interview with a senior mgr to walk thru my background, skills, etc. I'm just curious if I should be reading into a senior manager interviewing me during a second round as opposed to a consultant level or manager level. I assumed sr mgrs/partners only met interviewers in the final rounds.

Deloitte Manager Round Interview Questions and Experience

Our users shared that it is not unusual to be interviewed by a senior member of the firm when interviewing with Deloitte. You should not read into this. You can expect the conversation to be conversational in nature. However, it is important to note that the recruiting process can be different in different markets.

Karembeu - Corporate Finance Associate:
It's still a phone interview and I'm pretty sure they'd bring you in for in person interviews before making a hiring decision. With that said, I think the senior manager is just going to go over your experience and make sure you're not weird or anything.

Bobby Digital:
In most of the larger markets, an early interview with a senior level (partner, principal, director) is fairly normal. Often times the process will be dictated by who is in town at a given time. For me personally, I started with a couple interviews with partners then director then I met with an associate last. All in all, I wouldn't read into it too much. For the most part, my interviews were conversational in nature and we only covered soft skills. It is more or less an opportunity for them to get to know you.

For me personally, I started with a couple interviews with partners then director then I met with an associate last. Some were conducted over the phone due to travel. Total process took a few weeks. All in all, I wouldn't read into it too much. For the most part, my interviews were conversational in nature and we only covered soft skills. It is more or less an opportunity for them to get to know you. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Don't read into it. I interviewed both rounds with only Partners/Directors/Senior Managers on-campus for Deloitte S&O, which surprised and somewhat intimidated me at first, but at least at my school it's standard practice for them.

Yes, this is very true. I was in Deloitte S&O and when I was there they only let Managers (one-level above post MBA hire) or higher conduct interviews. This was even the case for undergrad recruiting. Don't let it intimidate you.....everyone goes through the same thing.
