Best path to take junior summer to set up well for full-time recruiting?
For you successful consulting analysts out there, what do you recommend is the best type of internship/job to pursue for junior summer in the hopes of setting yourself up well for senior full-time recruiting?
I know there are some obvious answers out there. However, I am operating under the fact that summer internship spots for MBB and other major consulting firms are extremely limited. Is investment banking really the only good option? Several friends who are entering MBB have told me to do this over even consulting at a tier-2 or below firm...
Side note: With a 3.6 at UPenn and a decent resume I feel myself to be competitive (with hard work) for most consulting firms with the exception of MBB.
Tier 2 consulting, F500 financial analyst internship (i.e. the FLDP internships)
Have been told from MBB alum that IBD, ER, AM, even S&T is great and FLDP is alright. They said not much stands out.
F500 financial analyst, IB, ER, AM internships would set you well for FT recruiting.
Strategy group at F500, e.g. Disney, CarMax, IBM, Verizon all sets you up well for FT, you will probably have a better story coming out of these too
