Mo-Th travel, carry on luggage enough or bigger?
Hi
I will start my new job in September that required Monday to Thursday travel. Location is unknown. How big luggage should I get? Is 20" or 22" carry on enough? (No suit required)

Always carry-on
Don't be the arsehole that makes everyone wait at baggage claim.
If you'll fly a lot you might want to get something semi-expensive now and then trade in your miles after a few months on the job - many airlines will hook you up with a Rimowa or Tumi setup. E.g. I'm rocking these bad boys, highly recommended: https://www.worldshop.eu/product/Rimowa-Lufthansa-Business-Set-Schwarz/…
only carry on.. even with a wso/">suit, only carry on. A nice Tumi bag will last you the entire career
Tumi carry-ons are so overrated / overpriced. And they have terrible warranty. I'd go for a Briggs & Riley. Great bags and no questions asked lifetime guarantee. Also, 22" might not fit in the overhead bin of some regional jets, so I'd go with the 20" or even 18".
BTW, you can go over to FlyerTalk for anything frequent flyer related. Some great information on that forum.
I use a Briggs Riley 21.5" and it's perfect. You should have no problems going M-Th with a carry-on and briefcase.
Carryon will always be enough. I personally have been using a samsonite for the past 3-4 years and it's still good as new. You're not checking it in, so it shouldn't be subject to that much abuse.
Thank you all guys!! Great advise!
Everyone has a 20" or 22" Tumi or B&R; whoever recommended the Rimowa is almost definitely a European, because I have never seen someone with one of those.
haha touché!
Can't recommend them enough though - I don't get why Ethan Hunt is the only American I ever see with a Rimowa.
Rimowa is also pretty popular in parts of Asia.
You can fit at least 5 dress shirts, 2 pairs of shoes, two suits, and workout clothes in a carry on. That being said, I sometimes check a bag the first time I start a new project so I can bring gym shoes and double edge razor blades (not allowed carry on). Another alternative is to order TSA-prohibited items and have them shipped to the hotel, or ship them there yourself. Other than that you should always carry on
And Tumi is definitely overrated and everyone has it. Actually do some research and find a nice piece of luggage instead of being a sheep.
You do realize you're allowed to leave stuff at the hotel over the weekend when you're not there?
Only do this with stuff you're willing to never see again.
Personally, I don't like to leave stuff anywhere even if I'm going to be there the next week. Trips get cancelled all the time. Besides, if you can't get the stuff you need for a week into a small carryon, consulting might not be the right fit for you...
i've had female coworkers fit their week's worth of clothes and their laptop in a longchamp
Get yourself one of the rolling laptop bags and a few compressed air bags for your shirts. Done.
