Glasses or Contacts?
For those of you analysts that wear glasses or contacts... which of the two would you recommend?
Forget about the way glasses look.... for the purposes of comfort and practicality, are one them easier on the eyes at 2am after staring at a screen for 10 hours? I'm afraid contacts might dry your eyes out with so much time and stress in a banking job.
Anyone with firsthand experience of this as an analyst- glasses or contacts?
Most bankers I know use reading glasses, which makes sense after all those hours spent staring at a computer screen.
Definitely go for glasses.
Go glasses. I wore contacts every day my first year and lost 1.5 in each eye. Awful. Dr said if I wore glasses I would have been much better off.
LASIK
Personally, I don't understand how anyone can withstand contacts while in a banking job. A couple of my colleagues seem to be managing it just fine, though.
Do yourself a favour and just use glasses. Nobody really gives a shit how you look after you pull an all-nighter anyway.
Thank goodness I'm getting Lasik done next week.
Glasses for convenience, contacts for appearance (I wear dailies), but hoping to get LASIK within a couple years....
Just curious, what brand of dailies to wear? Mine always dry out after 6-7 hours. Would love to have a pair that lasts a whole day
Wow, wearing contacts worsened your eyesight by that much within a year? How does that work? That sounds terrible
contacts, its all about networking. In all seriousness, I would get glasses
Staring into a 15 inch laptop screen for 96 hours a week isn't exactly what nature intended on us doing.
Any opinions on night contacts? (wear them when you sleep, take them off when you wake up and you can see fine)
Bump* Anyone?
Ok? But why would contacts be worse than glasses?

Random thought; glasses or contacts for interview, day to day work, weekends?
I generally rock the glasses as when it comes down to it contacts just kinda annoy me, some friends I have just leave a pair of glasses in their desk for when their contacts start to bother them.
Both. Gotta take out the contacts when it gets late and you have been staring at a computer all day.
Exactly what I do, just bring the glasses for when it gets late. Daily disposables are the best for working long hours. I'd like to get vision correction surgery, but I looked and it's quite expensive if you go somewhere quality. John Hopkins, which is supposed to be the best at vision correction in the country, is $6k for both eyes...pretty steep considering health insurance doesn't cover laser eye surgery.
laser eye surgery
It's not recommended to get LASIK before starting banking. I knew a guy whose HF let him go, he got his LASIK after the job. You know how much eye strain you'll have doing banking? Best to do when you're not going such grunt work.
I prefer glasses at work since it's never an issue and contacts for social things. YMMV
so anyway i doubt this kid is honestly considering getting laser surgery at this point in his life.
i'll just stick to the original question. I think you should wear contacts to your interview. if you go into the office, you will definitely need to change into glasses later in the evening. at a certain point they just get totally dried out and it becomes impossible to work through the discomfort. i unfortunately wear a monthly lens which means i have to remove my contacts and put them into a case, and i have to keep saline in the desk always.
glasses are ultimately way more comfortable, but contacts are better because you can quickly glance from your desk to your screen without having to tilt your head constantly. and the glasses sometimes interfere with the headphones, and the headphones seem to have bent the frame at some point.
aw shit man, just get the surgery.
what?! how has this digressed into should i should i not have laser eye? i'm never getting that shit. i was merely wondering what others do regarding contacts etc. jeeezus, self-righteous much?
ok this is a random person walking by, but i happened to have the same question and I'm actually considering vision correction surgery like LASIK or LASEK. It is just freaking annoying to wear contacts all day AND wear them for social life after work. My hours are around 12~14 h so i think it's worth a shot at least.
As for the contacts, I found that daily ones can only irriate your eyes further if you already have moderate dryness or redness issues. Go for some quality ones with better oxygen penetration level that will alleviate these problems - even though that might mean you need to pay some extra cash.
I got laser eye.
laser sucks, high failure rate contacts aren't too great when you stare at your computer 100 hours a week ...
Glasses, cant go wrong with a thick black frame (don't ever go frameless)
I went frameless, like Jon Moulton. Big frames = Victime de la mode
Eye strain, who knows, I didn't bother asking any questions since the damage had already been done. Another thing to consider is every half hour or so, take a break and stare at something far away. Do that for about 30 seconds at a time and it should help your eyes relieve some stress. I was going to do Lasik but you need a few years of consistent eye strength before you can do it. A 1.5 swing didn't help the cause.
Acuvue Moist, they usually last me for the entire day
contacts bro you need to use your peripherals (cant believe i spell that shit right the first time)
I would alternate as much as possible.
Contacts in the day, glasses at night.
Alternate between the two. I understand how annoying contacts can get.
I choose rimless glasses.
I would choose pure titanium rimless glasses, which is super light, I have bought one pair of rimless glasses named KAL on https://www.leotony.com/?utm_source=13.7.248. It is terrific.
I wear contacts to the office everyday (or, close to everyday) and have never had any issues. The trick is to have disposable silicone lenses. Your eyes are so much more relaxed than with normal contacts.

I typically wear glasses day-to-day. It's easier for computer work.
I do have contacts you can wear for 30 days straight (yes, even at night), but I usually only put them in for the gym and sometimes leave them in on the weekends.
Using 30 days as well - highly recommend for the convenience aspect if your eyes can tolerate them. Fortunate to be able to keep them in almost the full 30 days w/o taking them out.
I know this is an old post but I’ve never heard of contacts you can leave in, care to share the brand?
Air Optix Night & Day, still using them!
Firstly, I wear contact lens,But contact lenses require consistent wear to maintain adaptation and Can slip off center of eye more easily than other types. Finally I choose the lightest pure titanium rimless glasses named KAL on https://www.leotony.com/?utm_source=13.7.248. It is terrific.
Personally recommend wearing glasses, do not wear contact lenses, because things directly in contact with the eye, often repeated wear, is more dangerous.
