Analysing a stock with one hour time limit!

Hi everyone!

I want to start what I believe could be an interesting discussion: How would you go about analysing a stock if you had a timelimit of one hour to form an opinion? Let's say your available resources are the annual/quarterly reports and the internet. How would you spend your time? How would you present the result of your short analysis?

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to this question, and obviously the country/industry are a determining factor what to focuse on. However, I would be very interested in your general approach!

Looking forward to your answers!

Best regards,
Pete

I'm not even close to being proficient at valuing a company and forming my own opinion on it through intensive research but isn't it possible (depending on the company in question) to simply substitute numbers into one of your previous DCF models, change the assumptions based on your analysis and come up with a quick fair value? Maybe after that spend the rest of your time on industry and sub industry analysis?

I would skim the 10k/q and maybe build a very rough DCF, i.e. very simple, apply industry multiples by googling the industry and finding ER reports, if not that using google finance and pulling multiples. I'd try and quickly come up with a qualitative assesment, maybe do some ratios, try and figure out drivers. Are they looking for a price target?
