Professional shoes

Even though I make decent money I am still frugal. Was wondering which cognac shoe is more suitable for the workplace. Personally, feeling the wingtips more.

Thanks!

Frugal is fine, I am too. But look at it from a long term perspective. You're better off spending $250 on a pair of allen edmonds and treating them well then buying several pairs of shitty shoes. I have a pair of AEs that I have had for 6 years; they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn, and I have invested a relatively little money into them to keep them looking how they did the day i bought them.

My 2 cents.

I agree. These Rockports, although fine (I'd go with the Mocfront if these are really the only two choices), look a bit 'off.' They are just barely decent. Stitching looks very manufactured--no real workmanship or attention to fine detail. I know money is always an issue, but I'd invest a bit more upfront and wear them for years.

Could not agree more with this post. These Rockports are Ops in Minneapolis at Piper Jefferies.

Thanks for the advice. Thing is I am pretty careful with shoes. I bought a pair of wingtips from Thailand years ago for around $60 and they are still in decent shape after 3 years, maybe I just got lucky.

AEs should be the absolute floor of quality that you are willing to accept. If you take care of the shoes and get them re-crafted, they can last you 20 years (less if you work in NYC - as it wears down shoes pretty quickly).
