When (which month) do ER associates leave for the buy-side?
Is it after the year-end bonus? I'm currently at a independent ER shop, hoping to make the switch to a larger firm and was wondering when spots will generally open up...

Ideally ER associates would like to time their exits right after bonus season and it's helpful that more buyside slots might open up then as well. Though if the right opportunity comes along, people will often make the jump regardless of how much they leave on the table. This shouldn't really change your approach though if you are interested in making a transition. Just do a quick skim for postings each week and apply to all openings.
