Citadel vs AQR
I posted this in Asset Management but in hindsight I think it makes more sense here.
How would you guys pick between interning/working at Citadel or AQR? I'd value any relevant thoughts here.

Interning at Citadel vs AQR (Originally Posted: 02/25/2014)
How would you guys pick between interning/working at Citadel or AQR? It seems like Citadel has traditionally had a bigger name but AQR has accumulated massive AUM over the last few years (they're up to 99 billion now). I'd value any relevant thoughts here.
For what desk? Do you have offers? Seeing they both manage huge client assets I wouldn't take this into account, in the HF world a huge client base doesn't necessarily mean better fund.
Using total AUM doesn't offer a like for like comparison, as, to my knowledge, a fair chunk of the AQR AUM comes from long-only, mutual fund-like vehicles (e.g. their risk parity funds), whereas Citadel is purely a hedge fund.
I can confirm this, AQR is definitely not a pure hedge fund. There are a lot of smart people that work there. Good question though, not sure of the answer. I think they are generally comparable, though AQR might be a bit more academic...they publish papers.
Interesting points made. So if one was comparing the two, there isn't one that's seen as a consensus better?
