thebrofessor:

there's a reason these are only worn by the eccentric and groomsmen, just say no.

by the way eccentricity is only cool when you have enough money in the bank to never have to work again, and thus you give zero fucks about making a good impression.

This is probably the best advice with regard to dressing outside of the norm. Yes, it stinks to just be one of the herd and be exactly like everyone else, but when you're in the earlier stages of your career it's best to play it safe and dress conservatively. Personally I like the look of a vest but I'd wait until you're more senior. You'll know when it's ok to dress however you want.

@"intheflesh", hehe...

@"guerrillagrrl", every guy should own at least one 3 Piece Suit during their lifetime.

OP, although I firmly believe that every man should own a 3 piece suit during at least one point in their lives, you don't wear one at work unless you have the status to support it. You can come off as a douche if you do. More importantly, unless you happen to be Matt Bomer or James Spader, please don't add a Fedora, Trilby or any other type of hat with the 3 Piece suit.

Likewise, I will definitely agree with @"Dingdong08" and @"thebrofessor" here, don't do it unless you can openly say "I have 0 fucks to give about what anyone thinks."
