i dont see much value in master degrees in general -unless you are french/german elitist mentality or -need a career switch or -had a bad undergrad name/performance
Is Ms finance from Cambridge good enough for a Finance related job in US? (Originally Posted: 03/27/2013)
What is the difference between a ms finance degree and a MBA degree?
I found most of the jobs are looking for someone with an MBA degree.
Will a person with a MS finance degree from Cambridge University be able to find a finance related job in US easily?
Nobody is able to find one easily per se; I think, though, that relative to what you're implying the answer is yes, it'll be easy. It definitely won't be as hard as applicants without a MS/MBA from a top school will have it, certainly. Your biggest barrier might just be getting a work visa (from what I've recently seen/heard other monkeys go through). Good luck...
MSF is a specialized degree. Think of it like an MBA in Finance without having to take unrelated classes like marketing. For this reason, MSF usually takes one year to complete instead of two years. Ceteris Paribus, an MSF is as good as an MBA for a Finance related job. The reason most companies mention an MBA is because the MSF is a new type of degree therefore few people have them.
Thanks for the responses!
hi, I myself have gotten thru the MFin Cambridge program. But my concern i that being an international student (I'm from India) how hard is it to get jobs in London/NY? I already have an MBA and have been working with a multi-national bank in India Also I have heard that now days the native East Asians are getting the better jobs... since most of the growth is in the Emerging mkts of Singapore and HK Do share your feedback
