Real estate investment analyst in London

I'm currently at a Big Four in London, finishing up my ACA (local accountancy qualification) having started in audit and then moved to a financial advisory role.

I've been exploring front office analyst opportunities primarily in equity research and corporate finance as well as a bit in funds but yesterday spoke to a recruiter who introduced me to real estate funds.

Frankly this is one area that I've neglected in my research somewhat (though of course I am aware of funds that invest into large real estate projects).

The recruiter gave me somewhat limited info and I've not had too much luck finding info on my own on working in this field.
Could someone please help me with the following:
1) What is the career progression like? Similar to other funds?
2) What would be the ultimate role you could end up in, RE fund portfolio manager?
3) What are some potential exit opportunities? (always good to have a backup)
4) What is the salary+bonus structure and culture like?
5) What are the hours like? IB-esque or better?
6) Is there much travel? I would imagine that if you're investing into a property you might at some point go out to visit it but what about meeting with investors?

Thanks!

I'm not sure how it compares to other analyst jobs as I have only been in real estate but ultimately you would move up the chain to an asset manager/portfolio manager position. At some firms you could possibly even be able to invest in the deals the firm acquires. I am guessing you would work less hours than IB but that probably depends on what company you are at. I would assume you would be salaried with small bonuses based on performance or assets acquired but I work on the sales/brokerage side so can't tell you for sure how the ownership side works. Yes, you would be traveling to visit assets or look at opportunities to acquire and meeting with brokers.
