Silicon Valley Internship Fashion Advice
I'm starting an internship with a Tech company (working in a Finance related role) this summer. Not really sure what to wear. It isn't a startup-style company or anything wack like Google or Facebook but instead a more formal corporation.
When I interviewed there people wore mixed things. Most people were wearing slacks or khakis with a fancy button down shirt but some wore full suits and some wore tennis shoes and jeans. I am a High Schooler so not really sure how formal I should get. Are slacks and button downs too formal?
Any help is appreciated.
I'd err on the side of caution if I were you. A button down + formal pants with a tie on standby. Since it's a high school internship I doubt they'd expect you to buy a suit. Once you get a feel of your department's culture you can dress down appropriately. You don't want to be the kid who showed up wearing jeans on Day 1.
Alright that makes sense, Thank you!
Business casual, even ib doesnt wear suits in bay area
So like what I said earlier (slacks and button up)?
Slacks and a button down should be fine. You will know the first week if you should dress more casually than that. Congrats on getting an early start gaining some valuable experience!
