Hanes white v-neck. It's more comfortable, it saves my shirts because I sweat a good bit, and I have a couple black tattoos that can show through on white button downs otherwise. V-neck because I rarely wear a tie and a crew neck undershirt under a button down makes you look like a four year old.

I 2nd this. to add to it wear a grey one under a white shirt and it will not show at all depending on the shirt.

TopChedder:

I do not. It just feels uncomfortable to me and I feel like my shirts don't fit right if I'm wearing another shirt under it.

+1. It's like, I understand how the undershirt captures all the sweat, but at the same time, wearing that additional shirt just makes me hotter and even more-likely to sweat in the first place. Such a confusing situation.

For the love of god please don't let the shirt show if you're going to do this -- it looks terrible.

If you're going to do it as the above have said -- V-neck is the way to go and make sure your shirts are thick enough that you can't see the undershirt through them.

Because you can't see a V-neck. It doesn't look good/clean when you see a white crew neck popping out from underneath -- but a v neck is cut low enough that it won't show under your shirt.

I rather go with a tank top under my shirts since they are less bulkier than T-Shirts, yet they still prevent the inevitable back sweat from showing in those hot summers. Furthermore, I just think it looks a bit sloppy when a T-Shirt can be seen through the shirt. I don't why many people don't just substitute the T-Shirt with the tank top, unless their armpits are always seriously leaking. In that case I recommend Certain Dri to be the solution to this problem. :)

Nobody gives a shit as long as the T shirt isn't obvious under your dress shirt....or alternatively as long as your nasty man-hairs(assuming that you're both male and deserving of being called a "man") aren't visible underneath your dress shirt.

Just make a judgement call. Extremely hairy? You've got that nasty, greasy, sweat that stains shirts? Fat? Wear one. Or don't if you tend to get hot easily.

You could also do like a lot of European bankers do and wear a wifebeater T under it.

Never knew this was so popular. I have hyperhidrosis (I sweat my ass off) and would be a mess if I had to wear an undershirt.

It sounds like you'd be far messier without something to soak up the sweat...

Wearing an extra layer would increase my body temperature to a point where I'd sweat more and then have to deal with a wet soggy undershirt all day. I just kind of dread wearing cotton in general. I try to buy shirts that are somewhat breathable and dry out completely 2-3 hours into the day. I've tried anti-perspirants to solve the sweating issue in general, but nothing's worked so far.

no of course you shouldn't wear an undershirt because we all REALLY enjoy seeing your nipples on a regular basis. the day doesn't feel complete without them.
