Stores for Intern to buy suit
There have been some threads thrown around about what interns should wear and price ranges but everyone had a different idea. I only have a black suit and that clearly isn't what I should wear so I want to buy a navy and charcoal suit. Do you guys have any stores you suggest for interns who can't break the bank on a suit? Nordstrom, Banana have been mentioned. What's a honest price level where I can look not the greatest, but still not look cheap? Nordstrom suits seem to hover around $700-600 and Banana on the other end of the spectrum. Any advice is appreciated.
Men's Warehouse?
Jos A Banks is where I got mine. The ones that are $500ish in store are always on sale online if you know your size (right now they are $200).

From what I've always seen/been told, Brooks Brothers > Jos Bank >= Men's Wearhouse in terms of price/quality but all are pretty acceptable/look nice/etc.

Takes about a month or so, but if you have the time check it out. I am not sure what they charge for a suit I would guess $300ish for a custom suit. I just got 5 shirts from them for $30 a shirt and $40 for shipping. Fill out the form and ask for some samples, also go to a tailor and get your measurements.

I'm going to second this, Brioni makes excellent suits. They're just slightly out of his price range. slightly

In my experience, Men's Warehouse's stuff does not last long. Brooks Brothers has a couple of sales each year in which you can get a suit for ~$600. That is the one of the safer routes IMO, because the style will be what's needed and the quality is about as good as you can get for the price range.

They all have sales "sometimes" where suits will run 500 - 700, shirts around 80 - 100
Go quality over quantity
Go there. Get an italian tailor to fix it up. Buy slim-fit shirts. No cuff-links for you. If you have a doubt if you can wear a color, the answer is NO.

My suggestion is to do what I did. Find out your exact measurements and buy a new/used suit on Ebay for a steep discount. Even if the suit doesnt measure up perfect you can get it taylored for around $50. There are so many name brand suits with quality fabric. I would advise Hugo Boss suits. Also if you live near a Nordstroms Rack or Off Saks Fifth they have the same suits as the sister stores at a deeply discounted price.
I recently shopped around, and I finally agree 100% that Men's Wearhouse is utter crap. They have cheap suits for $200 but that's because they aren't worth any more than $150. Go to Macy's when there is a sale - they have a nice selection of suits in the right colors (navy, charcoal). I got an Alfani Luxury suit for $185 and a DKNY suit for $290 (including taxes). Tailoring/alterations there are also decently priced ($10-$14 for basic alterations).
I found this out a few years back but most BB;s have some kind of discount at Jos A Bank. They asked where I worked and looked up my firm and I got 30% off.
Nordstrom is having their half-yearly men's sale now, so you should take a look there - you can grab some nice thread for a few hundred. Jos Bank is having their 50% off everything sale soon, so you can head over there and grab a suit for 200-400. Brooks brothers may have just finished their sale, but they are always a fan favorite. I'd stick with those until the bonuses come in and start coming up again.

Nordstrom Rack, even if it's too big. Go to a tailor and get it fixed up. Pulled a $1200 suit for ~$400 with tailoring like that.
I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet. I would recommend Suit Supply. They have a 3 different lines of suits with 2 of them being within the price range you will want. They are also tailored very well. Check them out
