Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing (MSREI)

Anyone have experience with modeling tests for analyst/associate position here? They mentioned it would take 4-5 hours in total. Not sure what that would entail.

They are for sure doing better now but for those of us that were around last cycle they literally were the largest losing REPE firm of all time. It's ironic if you think about it because that is exact same time that firms like Blackstone made the most money.

Just google it and a seeking alpha article about MSREF will pop up.

Great point, and it's quite convenient that everyone forgets that the mgmt team managed to get a second life by forming Bentall Green Oak. Wonder if they shit the bed again with their heavy office exposure.

I can't answer your first question but I can attempt an answer at your second. MS REI analysts still get strong exit opportunities. The group's reputation has certainly fallen from an overall investment track-record perspective, and they have had a tough time with their limited partners. At the same time, there are not many established real estate private equity firms that hire at the analyst level--MSREF is maybe one of three truly reputable REPE analyst programs. Other RE PE firms don't hold MSREF's investment missteps against the analysts, so for exit opportunities I think it's actually a great place to start.

Is their investment process more restricted because they're part of a bank? Vs standalone REPE funds?

Hey All,

Interview process for Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing has started for ASO1. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the modeling test? Wondering what to expect. Should be coming out sometime this week or next.

I did the test last cycle. Can share it. But only willing to do so for 1k. Also, acquire at your own risk. They could change it for this year.
