Best blogs in 2018 (Finance and non finance related)
Hey everyone,
I am looking to find a couple of good regular reads since I have a bit more time on my hands now.
So what are your favorite blogs that you always go back to? Not restricted to finance only, political commentaries, philosophy, lifestyle, health, watches, pens etc. can also be included.
Mr Money Mustache- Developing the frugality mindset. Makes you rethink using money as the sole source of fun/self-worth.
Quora- Lots of smart people answer good questions. You have to curate it yourself else you get a ton of indians posting/answering clickbaity questions.
Less Wrong- Bunch of quants trying to make sense of the world.
Parisian Gentleman- Pretentious Europeans describing rich people fashion. Obviously full of great advice.
Quora is a great one, lots of different opinions without pathetic online beefing.
Absolutely true and hilarious observation!
So true. This is why I stopped using Quora. How does one go about filtering this bs out?
Quora is incredible, lots of successful finance and political professionals on there. Though you have to be sure to follow the right topics and people or you will end up seeing 100's of answers from "Life Coaches" about how to unlock the secrets of life, wealth and happiness throughout the power of heavy breathing
The Athletic -- if you wanna follow your team and get in-depth insight, well worth the price.
What are your thoughts on Less Wrong? From what I have read online it seems to be liked by a few and mocked by others.
More of a forum, but if you have any interest in running letsrun.com is an amazing place
You're right on that and there are a couple of decent investing forums on there
Naked Capitalism. Very smart lefties giving contrary perspectives on finance and politics. The woman who runs it used to work at Goldman and McKinsey.
They eviscerated the economics of Uber. Very smart people. Does get a little fringy on the lefties but they do have some good analysis.
Backer of modern monetary policy which I think has flaws.
Yeah, some of the junior varsity contributors are a little flakey. But Yves Smith herself is sharp. The Uber takedown was priceless.
CN Traveller - travel guides, tips and cool places to visit Hodinkee - watches and watchmaking HiConsumption - kind of everything from gadgets to cool projects and interesting items Dezeen - architecture and design FierceBiotech - pharma/biotech news
My favorites:
Value Investing World
Masters Invest
Farnam Street
Collaborative Fund
BiggerPockets seems to be a pretty good real estate blog/forum. I will be leveraging it more as I am acquiring my first property at the moment.
You have to really dig through bigger pockets for the useful information. Seems almost every thread is commented on by a realtor looking for business and several wannabe big shotz investors/wholesalers.
When I picked up my first few properties I did reference the site for some of my needs; 50/50 with getting them answered by searching.
BP is for the birds
Some favorites:
AVC - Written by venture capitalist Fred Wilson Financial Samurai - Personal finance related Medium - Lots of areas covered here but my favorites are usually found in Hackernoon
Axios' Pro Rata, Fortune's Term Sheet and Pitchbook's The Daily Pitch are great for quick overviews of daily deal activity.
I do a lot on Quora.com -- love the content and the questions. Tons of great minds in VC, Tech, SaaS, Startups, Sales, Finance, Consulting. I've made a pretty good show in terms of answers and questions and it's helped open many doors.
A couple more great sites/blogs:
a16z blog SaaStr PaulGraham.com
what's your profile on Quora?
Anyone have suggestions for travel blogs?

Damodaran's blog - an NYU Stern professor's blog, very much finance/valuation focused
They eviscerated the economics of Uber. Very smart people. Does get a little fringy on the lefties but they do have some good analysis.
