Rain and Shoes

So given it's supposed to be a monsoon in NYC this week I wanted to poll everyone on what they do when it rains, specifically what do you do to not ruin your shoes?

I have galoshes, but I also have a pair of rain shoes that I wear if it is going to be crappy out. Given that there is going to be 5 days of rain this week I can't just wear this one pair of rain shoes. What does everyone else do?

PS I care because I invest about $200-$500 per pair in leather dress shoes.

Cant you get a spray which makes all liquids run off the shoes? I dont know if this damages the shoes in the long term though. I personally dont wear my shoes to walk around with as they are far to expensive for shitty London roads.

I use this black rubber spray. Its pretty good. It waterproofs my shoes and the bottom of my pants. The rubber does not come off the pants though.

Or the shoes.

No leaks though!

Just wear Chelsea boots. They look good with suits and if it splashes, it won't get your ankles wet.

I got a pair for $30 at Nordstrom Rack

Here's a pair from Zara:

(they are probably going to be $50-$60, I wear them in the rain, they are fine)

This is what I used to do in the snow/rain in NYC, and it seemed to work well. I used to like Charles Tyrwhitt, but they started doing rubber soles, which is a no go for me. I have a pair from Two Boot NY now that I like.

The Kurt Geiger ones posted above look cool.

Ohhh haha, I thought those were Zara. Yeah I thought they looked good/clean; they are more expensive. I had a pair from Zara that looked like that.

I don't like the Zara ones on that list especially as that leather looks like 'casual wear', which doesn't really go well with suits.

But, in general I have always liked the Chelsea model. There is a lot that you can do with that design and they are versatile as you can wear them on a hot date with jeans with some chick, and chicks love boots like that.

So would anyone do duck boots and have a pair of nice shoes under your desk for the office?
Duck boots? Dude, Wellingtons is where it's at.
I have a friend who lives in the country, and it's supposed to be an hour from 42nd Street. A lie! The only thing that's an hour from 42nd Street is 43rd Street!

Definitely keep a pair of dress shoes at work or in your bag and wear either rain boots or worn down gym shoes. No need in ruining such expensive shoes. No one will be looking at your shoes if its storming out anyway

I just bought a spray in spring to put on your shoes to protect them from rain. It works fine with my Sneakers and I also have an extra one for my winter (leather) shoes (:

What did you end up getting? I got soaked in yesterday afternoon’s delude and am looking at galoshes now…
