Starch to prevent wrinkles in shirts? HELP
All,
Has anyone had success using starch on their shirts to prevent wrinkles? I just bought 5 CT "non iron" Dress shirts and ALL OF THEM WRINKLE LIKE A BI***.
Not sure what happened with my order. I've order a handful of business-casual non iron shirts from CT before, and I've honestly never had to iron them. I went with dress shirts rather than bus casual and they are practically ruined by the time I get to the office.
Try looking into performance shirts. There’s a thread on this. Cotton will wrinkle and requires more care.
Not sure about CT dress shirts, but the Brooks Brothers non-iron shirts can be hung up overnight and are good to go. Please don't wear performance shirts with a suit. Maybe this is only something women will notice, but it doesn't look the same as a proper dress shirt. They're perfectly fine with any attire that doesn't require a jacket.
yeah, if you have wrinkles and you have an iron/ironing board, spray starch works great. If your shirts are not non-iron, you actually need it.
Try TM Lewin Non-Iron shirts. Maybe you're washing them at a really high temperature?
Tyrwhitt offers both non-iron and regular shirts, so perhaps there was an error with your order. Unfortunately, the treatment that makes them non-iron also reduces the breathability of the cotton, which is a problem in summer. Performance shirts offer more breathable fabrics, but usually require you to pick a S/M/L size that might not fit you very well.
For cooler months, look for a thicker twill weave fabric that's less prone to wrinkling.
Like someone said, high quality cotton shirts wrinkle a lot. Weird that high quality clothes wrinkle more, but it’s sadly the case.
