Black Suit

What’s up guys?

I recently cold e-mailed my resume to a school alumnus that runs a relatively small family fund ($100-150M) to inquire about an internship. Based on my research, his father was an exec at Blackstone. He’s offered to meet for lunch or just coffee. I’ll likely opt for the coffee as I feel like lunch would be awkward and carries more room for errors. My question is, how should I dress? My only interviews have been in formal office settings.

I was thinking about wearing a black suit, white dress shirt, and solid black tie. I may add a white pocket square, possibly a watch, and carry a leather padfolio. It’ll probably be in the 80s-90s temperature wise.

What do you think? Feel free to contribute other suggestions too.

Thanks in advance!

Black suit is and will always be known for funerals and some other limited occasions, but NEVER for interviews especially in finance. It’s advised to invest in a dark navy suit for any man in general because it’s more utilized in more occasions like weddings, interviews, formal dinner, etc.

Oh give me a fucking break, eThug.

I’ve never had an informal interview at a coffee shop before. I’m okay with overdressing, but I don’t want my wardrobe to be a distraction by being over the top.

For a guy that probably does most of his interviews informally at the local KFC, I feel like you could’ve done a better job responding.
