I’m guessing that he did, but I wonder if he adjusted for population, as well as secondary factors such as income. Bigger cities tend to have higher median household incomes and that could factor in many ways to an upbringing and, ultimately, to your probability of success (having a wikipedia page).

Other things he pointed out make a lot of sense. Things like being surrounded by more and bigger ideas. Having more successful people around you, and so on.
