I seriously doubt you are built so oddly that nothing but a "true bespoke" suit will suffice.

I have 4 suits from Enzo, none of which was over 1k. They are MTM from a template, but they measure every aspect of you so the end result is a very precise fit. You select the fabric, lapel width, pant width, pocket style, button colors, jacket lining color - everything. Also, the receptionists when I went to their store by Grand Central were always smoking hot, so there's that.

For the money, I really don't think you will be disappointed with a suit from Enzo. And to directly answer your question, bespoke under 1k is not possible so just forget it.

You're not going to get true bespoke anywhere near $1k and like dsch said probably don't need it. Bespoke is more than just a suit cut to specifications, true bespoke is a multi step process bringing you in for multiple fittings, making far more custom selections than just what size and color the suit is, involves a ton of meticulous handwork, and can even involve them creating a custom pattern for you. It will set you back $4k-5k and there aren't that many bespoke tailors in NYC taking on new customers.

MTM, or what some places call custom which is typically MTM with a few other customization options, will get the job done. You have online guys like BlackLapel that are fairly cheap. In NYC you could do Kent Wang for ~$850. Mr. Ned or LS Mens seem like contemporaries of Enzo, you can look online for comparisons between them. I believe Mr Ned does a basted fitting, which is where they put the deconstructed jacket on you after cutting the canvas layer to make final tweaks before finishing. That will run you a bit over $1k. Martin Greenfield in Brooklyn is commonly touted as great, will run you a bit more than those guys.

This is not a comprehensive list, just what comes to mind. I'd bet you could probably get one of the cuts from SuitSupply to work for you with tailoring though. It's very uncommon to be that uncommonly shaped a tailor and range of suit cuts can't get you what you want. Places like AskAndy and Styleforum will have lots of testimonials from each of the places mentioned.

Yeah I would just go to one of the above because a real bespoke suit is something that requires tons of hours on the tailor's end. Usually you have multiple fitting sessions, etc... and it's a real skill.

Good bespoke is usually a lot more than a couple grand and the difference is noticeable with a great tailor.

Some brands have visiting tailors. I know Isaia sends people down to NYC once in a while and they do really cool fabrics, but again, you'd be spending way more and it's not remotely necessary.

Under $1000 you can find several options. Maybe they are not the "bespoke" concept as a craftmanship from the 20th century, that's true, but I guess Indochino and Blacklapel can fit you if you want to touch the fabrics and someone helping you during the measuring process. But you can also get inspired online with other online MTM stores.
