Tech Consulting to Real Estate

Hey Everyone,

I've been a long time reader of WSO and first-time poster. I'm currently a digital strategy consultant at a tier 2 consulting firm (think Accenture, Deloitte, PwC, etc). I was an economics major at a top 10 college and did a few internships in real estate during my undergrad years, including one at a large real estate brokerage firm (think CBRE, JLL, etc). I decided to pursue consulting as I wanted to get a more holistic picture of how businesses operate and, particularly, get a better understanding of how technology effects businesses. I've had an interesting experience so far and it's definitely provided some unique perspectives on how enterprises leverage technology to drive business decisions and improves processes...

However, I can't see myself in my partners shoes 15-20 years down the line and think about real estate constantly. I'm considering switching career paths and moving back into real estate long-term. I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to best approach switching into real estate. In particular, I'm interested in pursuing a career in development or acquisitions.

I'm currently 7 months into my job and am considering staying through 1-2 rounds of promotions (~3 more years), then going to graduate school. I'm considering doing an MBA, MDes in Real Estate or MSRED. Any thoughts on which direction to pursue?

Thanks in advance for the help and look forward to hearing back!
