References before interview?

Hi WSO community,

Was wondering if someone with more experience here could weigh in. Working with a HH who sent my resume through for a buy-side opportunity (think SWF / major LP), and the HH is reaching out asking for multiple manager-level references pre-interview.

I am uncomfortable with them reaching out to anyone pre-offer stage. What is the standard protocol here with confidentiality / discretion?

Running into a similar issue with administrative things (for example, a headhunter asking for the contact information of your staffer, or interview reimbursement forms asking for where you work). Worried that the information will leak. Am I being paranoid, or should I push back on these requests?

Thanks!
