Best assumption questions to management?
So, I am an intern in a PE and currently doing an LBO model on this one company. My associate asked me to create a list of questions to hand over to the management regarding their projections and such, and my associate wants me to email these questions to him first, already warning me to avoid ‘silly’ questions. I have only been around for a month and have no idea what constitutes as an ‘intelligent’ question.
I just need some guides regarding particular areas in the financial statement/projections to ask, whether it being EBITDA margin, CapEx plan, loan schedule and so on. Which niche area should I pay attention to? Any example would be great as well.
You're associate sounds like a dick. You've been there 1 month, you're bound to ask "silly questions" - it's just part of the learning experience.
That’s right. For a fact.
Why is he a dick for saying that. Pretty sure we’ve all been through a similar situation. The odds are you’ll write down questions which he will think are silly and then tell you why the are and what you should be looking for. It’s a teaching moment and he doesn’t want you to just write every dumb question down.
