Definitely saw this when I was going through my FT search. Obviously, it can be useful for companies to make sure your resume matches what's on your LinkedIn, but it can also give them a sense of how you convey yourself over social media (albeit hopefully a slightly more professional medium).

Do you have a professional picture, or is it a bathroom selfie? Do you have volunteering that you decided not to list on your resume? Are their additional interests that describe you that they can see on your profile? Do you look like the sort of person that could represent the firm, or would be a confidentiality/financial risk? The last one might be a stretch purely off of a LinkedIn profile, but these sorts of things can certainly help companies in their initial screening of candidates.
