Drug Use in The Finance Industry
I recently had a marketing internship where my boss was a huge drug user. She has stated she couldn't survive without weed and loves tripping on acid. She was 'the cool'.
How prevalent is drug use in the finance industry? Couldn't care much about the answer, just board and curious.
I meant to pick off topic forum, whoops.
I mean i consider this a success story too. Your boss is chill and not a lame.
yes, being weak and dependent on external substances that manipulate your brain and vital functions is very chill and not lame at all.
Drug use I think is fairly common. Im going to guarantee some of the higher ups at my current company indulge. My former boss had the constant sniffles Im assuming from an extracurricular drug related hobby of his.
"the cool"? WTF is that? Sounds like a botched phrase, like "that's a bingo."
Not at all. Drug use (especially illicit drug use) in finance is unheard of. Most people find great fulfillment and motivation from the profession itself. I've never heard of someone having to use external substances (coffee, energy drinks, prescription amphetamines or cocaine) to temporarily boost their productivity. I believe it comes from the will to succeed and the love for the job. That's what gets you through 80-100 hour weeks. And because people have had such a pleasant week, evenings are often for personal reflection and meditation. Rarely do people attempt escapism with alcohol or weed. Finance professionals are very anti-drugs.
Haha.. I couldn't make out if you were being serious or not until I read the sentence saying "evening are often for personal reflection..."
That's a problem dude..
Well, first of all, weed and psychedelics aren't really drugs or remotely addictive. Cheeseburgers are literally harder to quit.
Second, provided someone is stable and performing, it doesn't matter at all.
Ahh yes, the science on drug addiction that says drugs are ok, because the scientists are making the drugs and hate meat.
can confirm, spent 6 months in cheeseburger rehab
The problem isn't actually cheeseburger use per say... it's what that leads to. Often times recreational cheeseburger users will experiment with harder stuff: Deepdish Pizzas, Porterhouse Steaks, even Poutine (in extreme cases).
You are either incredibly naive or sadly in denial. Weed isn't addictive? I'm not super against weed - in fact I grew up around (prob way too much of) it since I am from one of the first two states to legalize it.
I had 4 roommates sophomore year of college. Three years later, one is currently in rehab for weed and a few other things (been there since dropping out after soph year), one literally smokes weed every second of the day, and the third dropped out during junior year and is now in a legit gang (this kid came to college on a full diversity scholarship). Oh and the one who smokes every second - I'm talking about wake up dab rips, bong rips in the shower, edibles for breakfast, smoking blunts /vaping his Pax while walking to class, leaving each lecture 2-3x to smoke weed outside, rushing back to our house between every class to take dab rips, then smoking continuously until he passes out around night time.
Granted some of this may be genetics (myself and one other roommate never got hooked), but I always feel compelled to say something whenever anyone claims "weed isn't addictive".
FYI, drug tests for cannabis in NYC are no longer allowed INCLUDING for banks so I'd imagine weed use will skyrocket from here on.
Starting in mid-2020, not yet lol
Lots of adderall and deep snow skiing on Wall Street.
Yeah, I like to ski when the snow is deep too.
They repainted the bathroom doors in my office recently. Coincidentally, I ended up "needing" to use the bathroom several times that day.
