Transfer help
Hey guys i go to a semi target think (BC, Vandy, ND) and i am looking to transfer schools to increase my chances of IB. I really feel as though transferring is the best option for me but I recently looked at Canadian schools since i am an american and canadian citizen.
I have fallen in love with western and a non target ( ryerson, haha i know but rotman doesn't accept transfers) recently and really think i could strive there. Right now I have a 4.0 gpa as well as high sat scores and i am interning at a local PWM shop this upcoming summer. I wanted to get some feedback as if this is the right decision or i am being ignorant and setting myself up for failure.
Any ivey alumni or current students advice would be great

Wondering what your plans of end game is. Where do you realistically want to be. Since you are a dual citizen, you have to pay U.S taxes even if you decide to live in Canada forever and never come back. The United States is one of three countries with a citizenships tax. What schools are you looking at and how much time do you have left in school?

I really don't know tbh that is my fear. I realize that bay street only hires western, queens & mcgill students but the tuition is actually cheaper in canada and ivey would only be roughly 50 k cad in debt for the last two years whilst this year at my semi is 50 k.
So tuition plus ivey apparently has really good reputation makes me wonder if i can use my benefits as being a canadian citizen to my advantage. I just feel as though i can get some pressure off my back and parents back with less debt and still be really successful by graduating from ivey
Hmm why cant you just break in from your semi? Unless you hate your school, it seems like transferring to increase your chances is kinda pointless lol, it would be logical if you were at a non-target.
I can break in but the underlying issue is that i really have joined all possible clubs and ecs yet i still feel really underdeveloped compared to my peers. Idk if its stupid for me to have this mentality but if i can transfer to a target my chances will increase a lot more and be more competitive, i really want to make sure that i go for it 100%
Eh I think its all in your head. You arent expected to be a whizz or even close for interviews, the stuff you are going to get asked its extremely basic and its mostly going to come down to your personality. Everything else you going to need to know, you will learn during the internship and once u start full time, the only thing u can work on realistically is being fast at excel/ppt and your attention to detail.
Like i said, there is really no good point to leave your semi at this point. My two cents is that its all in your head feeling inferior. If you transfer you will be coming in as a junior? You would had missed a good chunk of ocr at your school and you would most likely finish recruiting before even starting at your new school.
Transfer schools because you want a better alumni network, academics, or research opportunities.
You can get into banking from any school, but where you go to undergrad does matter and opens doors in the future (graduate school, etc). Going to a target school will not necessarily increase your finance knowledge, obviously that is program dependent, but what you are really paying for is the name.
Is uwo better than a us semi target? Seems as though it has good international pull and leverage but curious if anyone else can chime in on that
