Canaccord Genuity Boston & Advice

Hi everyone,

I just began my sophomore year in college, but have applied to several SA positions since I have two summers of hedge fund experience and a very solid GPA. I received a superday invitation from Canaccord Genuity in Boston. I would love everyone’s thoughts on the company. Is this a good opportunity for a sophomore in college? I’m looking to gain experience in specifically IB as I hope to break into some BB and EBs when I apply next summer for Summer 2021 internships.

Thank you for your advice and information!

Yes. Any IB related internship is the best route to go for your sophomore summer. Idk much about canaccord but I do know it has some reputation, so this is better than going for no-name boutique IB

Yeah, did a summer internship this summer in that office. Great people, hours aren’t bad, and great if you want to enter the technology coverage space. Also, CG has had a record year and has been rising in terms of the MM space. Great for sophomore year but they haven’t hired sophomores in two-three years due to the fact that they need a pipeline for analysts.

Really good bank. Definitely a sleeper shop in that they aren't as well known outside of the industry as some of the banks they compete with, but they are really starting to change that. I've seen their ECM guys on several S-1s recently in the healthcare space. I interviewed with them back when I was in college for their NY team and can only say positive things, even though I was not extended an offer. Seems like a good place, and people in the industry will know who they are.
