36S suits

So I am on the shorter side and I also have really narrow shoulders, and I have been having a hard time finding a suit that fits me. I don't want to shell out a lot of money for the summer wardrobe, but what do you guys think about these 2 suits from brooks brothers (They seem overpriced compared to Hugo Boss and even some Versace suits at Saks)? Is there a better/cheaper place to look for "lean" suits?

Either of those suits is an excellent choice for a mid-tier suit. From what I can tell, the "Fitzgerald" line is a good selection for you since, your being on the thin side, the high narrow lapels would be good for your build. The "Fitzgerald Plaid with Deco" in the second link is an excellent choice, and to be honest, I was surprised this was a Brooks Brothers offering. Most of their stuff is a little too trad (read: bland) for my tastes, but this one is pretty cool. Buy that along with a navy stripe suit (or plain navy if you prefer), and you should be all set.

Also, keep an eye out for Brooks Brothers coupons -- they always have sales, and I think you can also get a discount on your first online purchase. No need to pay sticker price for those items.

Also, concerning your comment on the "lean" suits -- do understand that what matters most when you're trying it on is how the shoulders fit, as well as the chest. You may even want to go to a respected tailor just to get a sense of what your measurements should be. The shoulders of the jacket should fit more or less exactly to your measurements since there's really no good way to alter these, and the chest area would be pretty tough to change as well. But, trusting that you already know you should be a 36S, you can make whatever necessary tailoring to the sleeve lengths and waist area to give the jacket a leaner look -- assuming that it fits you at the shoulders and chest as I stated earlier.

it's not about not looking metro - a suit that fits you is a suit that fits you. I'd say beware of actually wearing something that is to baggy because it makes you look sloppy. Also, for a summer stint which is what I'm gathering you're going into, it doesn't make sense to shell out 1k for a suit. You can get two suits for that price which will also come fitted - I know Bachrach custom fits your suit, everything from measurements to material, cut and sowing style for about $500. Personally, I'd rather go for two of those than one Brooks Brothers for a summer, unless you're looking to spend 2-3 grand on clothing.
