Interview Attire - What extent to dress like a banker

Apologies if already discussed.

I guess my question is, to what extent should I dress like a banker when going to an interview? For example, is it okay to wear a Ferragamo/Hermes tie, or should I wear a less conspicuous one? Half-windsor acceptable? Should I wear a white shirt?

Then you probably shouldn't wear it. Old Rule of Thumb. Think conservative garb with a slightly modern appeal.

Don't miss the point. Your interviewer won't hire you because you're wearing a Hermes or Ferragamo tie or have a tailored suit. They can pick any chappie off the street if they just need to look like a banker. People have been hired into BB wearing stuff that you would never see a banker wear - based on impressing their interviewers.

I agree with vadremc - try not to stick out too much with the way you dress - you might be unlucky and get some annoying interviewer who will try to make it count against you).
