Exit opps after being at controllers for a major investment bank ?
I just graduated college, and I currently have an offer in controllers at a major prestigious investment bank. Would it be possible for me to try to get into front office at a smaller boutique firm perhaps? What other exit opportunities are possible after I do 2-3 years in a controllers-related role at a major bank fresh out of college? Thanks
I know a guy who went from corp strategy at a bulge into IB; but that was in part bc he was doing strategy for the head of banking...you'll need to interface with some impt people in some way to prove yourself in order to get to the other side...
It'll be hard, as controllers are still back office. You will need networking and luck.
I would say your best bet is through b-school.
what about working a few years as a controller at a major ibank and then doing front office at a boutique firm...would that be more feasible?
hey, i've known some guys who were product controllers and managed to get into corp finance and IBs but i guess they did their fair bit of networking as well
good luck
