What does this HR person want me to do?

ok, this might not be an issue after all, but I'm just so curious:

So I submitted my resume to a MBB through the associated colleges career website a few days ago.
And exactly 7 minutes ago, I got an email from a HR person saying that my resume and cover letter were received and that "For reference to your recent application, kindly visit our [Company Name] careers website mentioned below. [Company Career Website]."

The website is just a plain old graduate recruitment website for everyone, and I know this was not an automated message because the email address was something like [email protected].

So here follow my questions:

1) wth? Why is he sending his email at this time of the day? Not that I'm annoyed or anything, but is he seriously in his office now?
2) So it seems like that he wrote his own email and sent it to me. Do I need to thank him for his consideration and time, or can I just disregard it?

Either way, I hope it is a good sign. Anyone else got the similar message after submitting your app through your school's career website?
