Almost everyone at Stern is a finance major, they do very well for placements in investment banking; I think they are ranked... #2 behind Wharton for undergraduate. To put it simple, if you want to get into investment banking and you go to Stern then you
Yeah, I'm interested in an MBA degree from this school. I hear Columbia and Chicago are great schools with a quant bent (which I like) but just looking at Stern's faculty makes me drool.
Going to Stern as an undergrad is great, but the MBA does take a slight back seat to the other top schools. In all my conversations with recruiters, it was always the same story: "Our target schools are Chicago, Wharton and Columbia. Once in a while we take from Stern, too." That's what they all said.
(side note: HBS and Stanford are second to none, but in sheer numbers they don't tend to send as many to i-banks--they more often go into buyside or consulting jobs.)

If you're into quant type stuff, I would go with Chicago, they are known for putting out the top traders.
Thanks for the insight!
Stern MBA is strong in terms of IB placement... however if you are looking for pedigree and potential PE opportunities, look elsewhere.

is top 3 or 4 for banking and S&T. Every BB lists stern as a "core school." Less popular for pe and hedge funds.
I agree Stern is a great undergard school to get into Ibanking, not so much for MBA.

Yeah, it's only like one of the top 5 b-schools investment banks recruit at.
i'm not a stern grad, but i know for a fact that if you ask any associate in any class at any bank they can name a handful of stern mbas easy.
