Piper was the obvious choice. You could have put up Citadel janitor or Bear Sterns PWM and it wouldn't have mattered
I would rather work at Bain or McKinsey than Goldman Sachs IBD, and I'm going into investment banking next year
Piper Jaffray, no question. A guy like me could make five times what I'd make at any of the others.
Piper for sure. I very much understand the appeal of MBB but it just isn't what I want to do.
I think McKinsey is a classic case of the-emperor-is-wearing-no-clothes!
I like how McKinsey has no stake in the companies it advises, and they often go bankrupt or lose a shit ton of money.
Good racket if you can get it I guess.

Hahaha this has to be sarcastic right? That's WHAT bankers do.
Any ideas why are there so few votes for BCG ?
Probably because it is seen as the least popular feeder to PE after Bain and McKinsey. They're seen as an academic shot that doesn't place as well in PE/industry. There are obviously exceptions to the rule (John Paulson...) but perceptions matter.
I definitely need to do more research after seeing this post about Piper.
From a personal perspective and related only to the people I know. Bain hires the best people, BCG the worst. But take it with a grain of salt, I know less than a dozen people from these companies, so the sample is likely to be not representative. But srsly BCG hired one of the most stupid and crooked people I know. This is for LatAm offices btw.
BCG seems to hire more girls and marketing majors... no question about it.
Interesting. From my school,
McKinsey hires the type-A people who are the most well-rounded BCG hires the smartest people (with the highest GPAs), even if their social skills are not necessarily the best Bain hires the frattiest people, even if they are not that smart
and piper just hires the type of people... you'd never want to be friends with.
Sign me up for Bain
oh I didn't realize working as a janitor was an option. Is it too late to change my vote?
