Hi all, I've got a question about switching industry teams in Big 4 Transaction Services (or advisory in general). Is it common/easy or do you get pigeon-holed into one team/have to switch firms? Would e.g. lead advisory or other experience make this easier? Thanks!

This post is a bit of a desperation post and is two-parted, but I will start with my background. I am a senior in a 5 year master in accounting program at a solid and well-targeted public (you can probably guess). I spent my early part of college as a finance major and gained little traction in IB recruitment. However, after I switched to accounting and got another year of maturity, education, and resume improvements under my belt I started getting more hits. BUT, after several final rounds/superdays that I thought had gone pretty well I still keep getting rejected for IB summer analyst

If you had to choose between the following two offers which one would you choose and why? Alvarez & Marsal Valuation Services - Sr. Assoc. - 20-25% year end bonus based off hours billed. EY TAS - Valuation & Business Modeling - Senior - 10% year end bonus, however EY is offering 10k more on the base salary A&M work is primarily focused on Alt. Investment Portfolio Valuations (HF, PE, Credit, Distressed) for quarterly and annual reporting purposes. There is some work regarding valuations of Complex Securities too. A&M is also viewed as more of a finance shop. While valuation is not the main

Hello All Have been exploring the big 4 practice focusing on M&A. Was keen on understanding exit opportunities from Big 4 Transaction Services for mid career professionals: Primarily focused on due diligence, integration / separation work pre/post deal (i.e. Non-Accounting work). My question is targeted at exit opportunities from a for mid career professional perspective working as a manager in these practices - having previous work experience of 4 years Industry (F500 @ Operations SCM) and 2 years consulting gigs (as Sr Consultant) at a Big 6 consulting firm. What types of exit opportunties

Hello everyone, I'm thinking about applying for a Business Modelling position at one of the Big 4 (London). I was wondering if anybody has any business modelling specific experience, and could share their insights? I'm aware there are a large number of threads relating to the exits ops for the Valuations side of VBM, but I can't seem to find much on Business Modelling. From the conversations I've had with people currently working in business modelling, the 2 departments are quite distinct from one another. One of my goals is to eventually to move into equity research, and I'm hoping the BM

Can somebody explain the different groups of Transaction Services: due diligence, accounting advisory, and valuation. Which group do people who previously worked in audit move into? What do they focus on? Do they hire from undergrad? Do you have to have experience? What are exit opportunities for each group? Which pays best? Etc....

I went to a pretty bad school academically (outside of top 100) for undergrad and Macc and I've been in big 4 audit for 2 years, looking to move to TAS soon. If I were to do 2-3 years of big 4 TAS, then did a top 20 MBA (closer to the 20th), would I be considered to have an appropriate background for a post MBA PE associate? This would put me at around 31 years old after 2 years of TAS and 2 years of MBA.

My (quick) background: I graduated from a regional target school and I speak fluent Japanese and German (I went to high school in Germany). I have been working in the Valuations & Business Modeling division of a Big 4 firm in Tokyo for about one year. Feel free to ask questions about the type of work we do, how relatable it is to IB, exit opps, or any other Japan specific questions. I have good connections with people in my office and other offices abroad, so I would be able to answer questions about positions above the Consultant level (even if I dont have personal experience). Hope this will

Hey guys, I've been lurking around these forums for the past couple years but just now am posting in desperate need of some opinions/insight. It's finally come time for me to go with an offer: a.) BB S&T 2 year program (Sales side - only option in SF, so annoying hours) b.) Valuation in a Big Four TAS group Originally I was more thinking I'd end up in IB so I may be looking to make the shift later on. Right now S&T compensation is slightly better, but skill set/exit opportunities I'm not so sure. Plus there not "guarantee" after the 2 year program is done I get into the NY program (thats the

Hi All, I have an initial phone interview with E&Y TAS for their complex securities position. Any of you currently in that group or know someone who is? I know the run-of-the-mill responsibilities off of the job description, but would like some more color on the true day-to-day responsibilities and types of engagements. Thanks!

I'm a senior at a non target applying to Masters of Accounting programs and have a Big 4 audit offer lined up after I complete my Masters. Since I have Big 4 Audit secured, I want to take advantage of going through 1 more recruiting cycle and try to get into Big 4 TAS/TS from the Masters program. I know Vanderbilt (Valuation), UT Austin, University of Michigan, and Wake Forest send a few students into TAS/TS each year but I'm trying to figure out which school(s) send the most and would give me the best chance. Thanks in advance!

I am going to have a phone interview tomorrow for an internship in the business valuation group of EY TAS. They will probably talk about my previous investment banking internship. I think I have my technicals down but I am not certain. DCF, Comparables etc... Someone please tell me what else I should know for the interview. What exactly does TAS do? Is it the same valuation work as banking? What are things to note about EY and where can I find their recent transactions? Also, how much are interns usually paid? I am applying for investment banks as well, however, if I get a second interview in person, and an offer I think I may just take that offer.

Title is pretty informative. I'll be a junior in the PSU Smeal College of Business this fall. My GPA could certainly be higher but I'm working to make up for it with leadership and involvement. Two cool internships, one at a boutique PE firm and currently at an intel-backed smartgrid startup. I chose accounting because it seemed to offer more opportunities than finance, and I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. Now that I have a better idea of what each entails, the audit life seems kinda dull. I'm torn between hanging onto accounting and trying to get into management consulting or switching to finance. I think I could hang in IB but that would require switching to a finance major ASAP (like...tomorrow). That's more I can commit to if it's gonna be a shot in the dark.

I'm a financial services auditor at a Big 4 accounting firm thinking about making a move into transaction services. Does anyone know salary ranges for that group and how good of a position that would put me in to move into banking/finance/PE in the future? I'm debating if I'm better off just focusing on moving up in the audit practice because I know that is something that is pretty much certain if I continue to do well and stick around long enough. However, I am more interested in finance and the earning potential that comes with it. Qualifications: CPA B.S. Business Admin/ Master's in Accounting (good regional schools, non-targets) CFA Candidate

Hi, So basically, I'm about to be a junior, and barring some unfortunate scenario, I'll probably be working in E&Y TAS for my sophomore summer work. The problem is, I believe this is in the commercial due diligence group and not valuation, etc., so I was wondering if there are any skills that can be related to other finance jobs (banking of course but even corporate finance at a F500, management consulting, etc.) or any opportunities I should try and seek out while there to better my chances at other jobs my junior year? If nothing can really be developed from such a group, is there anything you would suggest I should do in general while there to give myself a shot at other jobs in the future? thanks

Hello WSO! I'm in my last semester of my B.A (Hons) Business Economics from University Of Delhi. And here is how my story goes. :p I have noticed on my fairly decent amount of browsing of this great forum that there's barely any info on the Indian scene regarding CF, M&A, PE etc! I'm not surprised but I guess it's time it starts building up and hope alot of doubts in the minds of students (ranging from undergrad to mba,CFA,ca etc) in India in the future can be cleared up through such a medium!

I have been stuck in the world of IT auditing for a while now, going on 6 years. I have an opportunity to interview for a job with EY's TAS Operational Transaction Services group, which does integration consulting on M&A activity, or at least that's how I interpret their offerings. Anyone know what experienced TAS OTS Seniors or Manager make in New York? Also, is this seen as a prestigious job in consulting? What do people typically do after working in integration for 4 to 5 years? Any feedback or advice is appreciated.

Hey guys, Working on my move from Audit to Valuation and was wondering if I can get some tips/suggestions on resume. My resume follows the standard college senior resume that we see here in WSO (Education/Experience/Leadership/Interests). I have been in Audit for 8 months and haven't really changed anything on it. I was wondering if I should still follow the same format and just add more info on my audit experience so far? I have seen few resumes where people list experience first and education at the bottom. How common is it? OR since i don't have lot of experience, should I just stick to

Hello, To introduce myself, I am a second year Valuation & Business Modeling consultant at a Big 4 firm in Tokyo. I graduated undergrad with a 3.96 from a regional target (my school is somewhat well known but is top ten in the nation for international business majors). I am a pasty white American but through various adventures and uncountable hours of study, I have become fluent enough to conduct business in Japanese and German with minor difficulties. Firstly, I am happy to help out so if anyone has questions about Big 4 valuations/Japan/language study feel free to PM me or start a thread and PM me to let me know you would like an answer from me (to make the convo visible to others who are curious).

Hi all, I'm new to WSO and after looking through tons of articles and forum posts, I've decided to join the community. I am currently studying in a business school and I am 2 years away from graduation. I have a question that I would like to ask. Any replies would mean alot to me. Some background to the question, I have decided to work in TAS services once I graduate. However that would be in 2 years time. I have secured an internship in TAS for the coming christmas break., i was wondering what would be the best way to attain a return offer from this same company offering me the chance to intern there.
