Noob question guys and gal. What is the difference between LevFin and DCM/ECM in Capital Market? What about in terms of day-to-day responsibilities? I'm exploring opportunities in ECM/DCM, and I'm wondering whether it has good exit opportunties. Thank a lot in advance all.

Hey guys, I have been lurking on here for a while, and this is my first post. I have two internship offers this fall ( couldn't find anything spectacular). There both at BB in PWM. I really can't decide which one would be more beneficial or rewarding, and was hoping to get some input. The first internship would be me working under management. The financial advisers essentially would be our clients. I was told I would be putting on events, and would help scheduling conferences. I am not 100% sure what this would entail. The second internship would be working with a team of financial advisers, helping with powerpoints, some excel work, and word. No cold calling. The prospects would essentially be our clients.

I have two summer analyst internship offers -- ECM at BAML, and IBD at Nomura. I loved the people at both, and am having a hard time deciding. I've asked a lot of people for their inputs as well and have gotten different answers -- some people say the value of IBD over ECM outweighs (including in terms of exit opps), and others say that as a summer analyst I should prioritize the BAML brand name. I was wondering if anyone here had any thoughts. It would be very much appreciated!

Hey there. I'm a little confused with some terms. Can someone please clarify a bit? I thought when people talk about Capital Markets, they're referring to ECM or DCM. Often times, I hear people referring to Sales & Trading? Thanks

I'm in a bit of a bind here and would appreciate any advice. So I am still waiting to hear back from all of my interviews with Brown Gibbons Lang and Company, a middle market investment banking firm, which has been taking a while. I am currently sitting on an offer from Ernst and Young for Risk Advisory. I still don't know whether I should even work at BGL because I heard the hours are terrible, even when compared to bulge brackets, without all of the resources and exit paths. I also don't know whether Risk Advisory at EY will set me on the career path that I want to go. Should I continue to

I was fortunate enough to be receive offer to join both the LevFin team and the Asset Based Loans & Transitional Finance team this summer and would like some advice on what to choose. I am eventually interested in exiting to a hedge fund or pe shop. I have been told that Asset Based Loans & Transitional Finance is like a buyside firm because they are writing these ABLs to bankrupt companies and then keeping it on their balance sheet, which would have direct overlap with a buyside firm that lends to bankrupt companies or maybe a long/short credit fund. However, LevFin is known as a great group

Many banks and capital markets firms are dissatisfied with their current GRC technology platforms, according to our latest report, How Regulatory Reforms are Changing Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance in the Banking and Capital Markets Industry. The report, based on an online survey and executive interviews, looks at the impact of regulations such as the Dodd-Frank Act, Basel III and many others that have compelled financial organizations to re-allocate investments in processes, people, and technology.
