Does anyone in Consulting actually enjoy traveling?
Traveling in consulting seems to be the toughest part for most. Rest I find the work to be better satisfying than IB and PE (clear my myths if this is not true, also explain why you agree). Could someone who has stayed more than 2 years in consulting explain the travel aspect in depth? (Work Life...
Best Credit Cards to Travel as a Consultant (updated for 2019)
Hey everyone, I just started my first job as an associate consultant and I 'm hearing about all the opportunities to amass travel/hotel points if you're smart and sign up for the right rewards programs/credit cards. Everyone around my office has different opinions, and a lot of info on this topic...
Travel the World
With the high incomes and lavish lifestyles that finance brings, it can also leave us locked to certain parts of the globe (NYC, SF, London, Singapore, Zurich). It seems that more often than not, if you commit to a career in finance, you are committing to a city as well. Is there a career path in...
Good Briefcase for Starting Out
Starting in consulting in the fall - looking for a solid leather briefcase/messenger bag that is under $500, that is not only durable for frequent travel, but also some aesthetically appealing. Feel free to leave any suggestions - any help is appreciated as I'm on a budget.
Trouble Sleeping When Traveling?
I'm a poor sleeper in general, but not being in my own bed and thinking about work for the next day just exacerbates the problem. I spend all night tossing and turning and I'm worried it will start affecting my job performance soon. Do any other consultants have the same problem? Or thoughts/advice?
Alternative travel now taxable income?
Anybody have some details on this new tax law? Apparently alt travel to anywhere besides your home office is now considered taxable income? Was curious to know if all firms are affected and if any of them are offering gross ups? Kinda puts a huge damper on what has traditionally been one of the...
Carry-On for Travel
To the current consultants - any recommendations for carry-on luggage? I'm thinking of getting a Briggs & Riley for the typical Mon-Thu travel cases. This bag looks like a good pick, especially given the sale. But will the size be fine, it's a 22"? Or are there better alternatives?
Has anyone successfully used Airbnb to offset rent costs while traveling?
This summer I'll be beginning my career in big 4 consulting in NYC and with rent for a 1 BR at $2000, I was wondering if any consultants used Airbnb to rent out their space Monday-Thursday. Apparently, this practice is illegal in NY but I'm willing to risk it if it means pretty much living in my...
Accenture Business & Systems Integration Analyst: Travel Expectations, Business School Prospects, Nature of Work.
I've recently received an offer for from Accenture for their Systems Integration position. The particulars of the offer are very attractive to me personally, however I am a little unsure of some of the aspects of the job itself. Firstly, the offer states that travel could be anywhere from 0-100% of...
Tips for the Ideal Berlin Weekend
Proceed online or take a guidebook and do a little research to discover what the city can provide. If you enjoy museums look online and pick which ones you want to go to. If you are into a specific music style, ensure you catch on venues that play the material you prefer. Some attractions such as...
