Wanted to float this question to the boards and see what kind of feedback comes my way. Currently working in an operations role of a top-tier hedge fund and want to carve a path toward a role as an investment analyst. I understand the magnitude of the impossibility, but I am trying to be tactical and get a feel for what I am up against. For the purpose of this exercise, I'd like the below inputs to be taken into consideration. I have ~7 years in operations CFA & CAIA Designation PE and IB WSP Bootcamps completed Items I've considered / am working on below. Wharton MBA (feel strongly about my

Hello all, I'm planning to work at an MBB after undergrad graduation, and I'm hoping to take advantage of the MBA sponsorship too (if all goes well). Based on my internship work, I'm interested in consulting in the private equity sector. However, I've heard it would be difficult to exit into PE after earning an MBA and working the required 2 years at the MBB after graduation. Given this information, I have a few questions: 1. I've seen that it may be possible to work for a few years at the MBB, move to PE, and then earn an MBA. Do PE firms generally sponsor MBA programs? 2. If it is the case

I am a second year analyst at a top tier firm that all the hardos on this site drool over and quite frankly...I think I am underpaid. How should I go about setting up a job hop? Please go into all the nitty gritty details of considering to move to a new city / part of town, to negotiating signing bonuses and what kind of salary is realistic vs what isn't. How do you quit your job at your current employer without burning the bridge? WHEN should an analyst look into job hopping? Should I try to ask my current HR to match another firm's offer pay? Should I job hop AFTER bonus season or before

Can someone provide insights on Wedbush Securities (LA)? Specifically their ER dept? What % of summer interns get full-time offers at Wedbush? And what do the exit opportunities look like? Can you transfer into IB later? Can you get into ER at some other top firm (JP, Goldman, etc)? How does the compensation compare to consulting firms?

I graduated this year and just got two ft offers - one is GS Ayco PWM (idk but technically it's more like a gs subsidiary?) and the other is a Loan ops job in a global Boutique Bank. I know a lot of people in this forum may not consider either of them but I decided to take what I've got so far and will try to find other better opportunities later. Which would be better to leverage for FO in the future? Any Exit Oppo for both options? Background of me: a semi-target school student and I were unable to do my junior internship (canceled due to COVID), so Im very grateful for what I got rn. I was

Hi all, I recently accepted an offer for a summer internship with BAML's FMAP program. I come from the lowest non-target school possible, so I am very excited for this opportunity. I only landed this internship because of a last-minute connection that I made with one of the Managing Directors in the ML Wealth Management division. I've heard from other professionals that know him that I made a good impression when I met him, and he seems to be willing to act as a mentor for me (we've been exchanging emails since October). The summer internship will be based in Charlotte. I have had the

Just wanted to get a good idea of where I stand. I just received an offer at a small tech-focused boutique, I'm going to take it because they are expanding, however, I was wondering what my best opportunities are at exit ops, I have a good alumni network from u-grad, but will I need business school?

Can someone please provide insights on NERA Economic Consulting. Specifically their Antitrust and IP department. What % of summer interns get full-time return offers at NERA? What do the exit opportunities look like? Is it common for employees to enter management/strategy consulting later in the Big 3s or the Big 4s? How does the compensation/job security compare to Equity Research jobs?

I'm an H/S deferred admit and I'm in the Deloitte recruitment process (not in US). They gave me 4 options that I have to rank in order of preference. I'm not sure what to pick, I'm mostly interested in best future career potential and exit ops, especially exit ops and the overall value of the experience on a resumé (considering also that I'm an H/S deferred admit so MBA admissions isn't a factor in the decision). Fraud prevention team, dealing with international banks. Products and services fraud prevention, dealing with fraud prevention at the employee level of retailers, casinos etc. GRC

Hey everyone, I wanted some input from you all on what the exit opportunities are for someone working in IR and what the work/life balance is. The firm is fairly small and focuses only on IR. I have prior internships in IBD and was wondering if it would be possible after 2-3 years to transition into a HF after taking a CFA, or if its possible to make my way back into IB or even PE. Any thoughts and insight would be appreciated.

Just wondering if anyone has any idea on how to break into corp dev after MM banking experience west coast. Currently working as a 1st year, and I dont think there will be many 3rd year offers considering all the layoffs i have seen. Also do not want to do investment banking anymore. Second advice question is if anyone knows what the transition is like from a 2 year stint to a grad school abroad? Not sure if scholarships are attainable or not obviously i wont be rich after all this is said and done. Some quick background, went to a target school, have over 3.5+ GPA, mm banking intern, mm bank stint now (assuming i survive the 2 years). Thanks a bunch to anyone who takes the time to respond, and if anyone has questions about banking feel free to message.

Folks, I am currently exploring exit opps from my current role at what I'll call a boutique regional IB. Whilst searching, I am not getting much traction on account of (what I am assuming) the lack of name recognition of my firm. Accordingly, I would like to rope in the help of one of the senior folks around here as he has some solid connections to industry specific niche MM PE shops with whom we have done some work (I am not under the false impression that a megafund is a viable option at this juncture). I've done a lot of work in said industry, and am pretty convinced I would be a good fit for a fund like the ones I have in mind. Here's my issue: most folks around here don't move on to PE shops, so there is no process. In fact, discussing an exit opp is actually a little taboo. Is there any way to broach this subject gracefully or should I continue to have at it on my own? (I recognize that this is probably a subject more suited for the IB forum; however I feel like the folks in the PE forum -- who are presumably being a bit older on the whole -- might have more to say on this subject).

Looking for opinions on the exit opportunities available to associates at both these shops. My thinking is that Bernstein has better exits to AM/HFs. Would Morgan Stanley give you a better shot at a PE exit? (I understand a ER -> PE move is rare in general)

Hey WSO, I've been a long time reader of the forums, but have never posted anything. I attend a semi-target and landed a job at a decent middle market shop for full-time. Despite my GPA being higher during recruiting, I will likely graduate with a 3.4 GPA. It's frustrating to me, because I have gotten near perfect grades some semesters but failed to focus on school during other semesters when I had serious medical problems and was not always on campus. I take full responsibility for my current academic standing, but I don't see much good in beating myself up over it anymore, because it is what

Hello Everyone, Just some quick background. I am a 26 year old who is currently working in Regulatory Reporting and Compliance Consulting for a Hedge Fund Administrator. Prior to this I worked as an auditor in Alternative Investments for a top non-Big 4 who has since been bought by a Big 4 (I assume you can guess correctly). I am a CPA. I just wanted to get some other people's opinions as to what are my realistic exit ops are in my current situation. I would imagine the obvious route would be going to a Hedge Fund to work in compliance. However, I am curious as to what others think. Thanks!

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had any specific information on the GS Hedge Fund Strategies group. What skill set will you pick up from this group? How is the compensation for analysts/ associates/vp/md? Also, how are the exit opps for someone coming out of this group? Thanks!
