I submitted my app on September 7th, which is the deadline they gave us (I go to a non target in NYC and attended one of their virtual Info sessions aimed at non target schools).

I was a virtual intern in a group that had cuts, so I did not secure a return. Still have great relationships with supervisors who are happy to be references. FT recruiting has been an absolute black box. I've got an offer in hand with 1-2 weeks until it explodes. It's an M&A role at a MM bank, not in a major city, and not a very good bank. It's a large step down from where I interned (not BB but a strong, global boutique). I believe I can find a better position. But hiring is a lot different with COVID, so I'm struggling to weigh that with just taking the offer. Just wondering what you guys

Hi guys, I struck out on IB summer internships, but am still trying for a full time position. For context, I have a 3.9 (probably 3.7/3.8 when I recruit), got to a semi-target, had 2 boutique IB internships, and will be doing a consulting internship this summer. I'm won't have any FT offers from these internships, so it'll all be networking for finding a FT position. Do you think it's possible to break into full time?

I'm an undergrad junior (3-rd year) going to a US top-target (think Stern in terms of placement, but we're a regular uni.) majoring in Engineering with GPA 3.8+ and a Summer 2021 offer from a mid-tier BB in Hong Kong for IBD. I also did a few internships in the past (mega-cap Asian sovereignty fund investments part-time; top Asian IB-DCM summer). As you can see already my issue here is that I am way too Asian on paper (in person that is kind of true too, I'm not the loud American / athletetic type but rather introvert; but 1-on-1 I'm personable enough). I'm not entirely content with my 21 SA

This was originally posted on 10/3/12 For those of you who know my background at all, I'm in the process of full-time recruiting mainly for buy-side positions, and the process is just now picking up into full swing. I've had my fair share of pre-interview dinners, superdays, and all the other bells and whistles that come with the process. I'm currently on a train so this post will be somewhat brief and to the point, but I wanted to get some of the things I've noticed about FT recruiting down on paper and see if some of the recent grads and people going through recruiting as well can add to

I have a 3.7 from a target school (finance major) and currently have an internship that's more closely related to personal finance, as well as past international experience (not IB related). Would this lack of IB experience prevent me from getting solid interviews and offers when full-time recruiting comes around in the fall? If not, what are some things I can do to rectify this glaring hole in my resume?

Between the following, could any bankers please rank which SA would look best for full-time recruiting with BBs/Elite Boutiques? -Boutique MM PE firm, legit team though (ex-Top MM PE / ex-Mega Fund people) -MM IB firm, good senior bankers but limited firm reputation -Start-up PE/VC boutique, guys from top VC & RE PE firms, etc. There is a little potential for a job offer at the MM IB firm and the start-up PE/VC firm. I have past internship experience at a MM IB already if that's relevant. Look forward to your infinite wisdom, guys/gals. Enlighten me! Best, BankingWaffle

So the initial shock from being rejected from numerous banks (applied to 10 banks, 9 first rounds, 5 final rounds, 0 offers, semi-target background)has finally settled in, and I am looking again. I have an interview with Blackrock coming up, and I was wondering if anyone here would be able to elaborate a bit on AMG (Account Management Group) or PAG (Portfolio Analytics Group) and how something like this would look on a resume for full-time banking recruiting in the fall. Not 100% sure, but from what I gather, PAG seems to consist of using Blackrock's software to do risk analysis and prepare something called a GreenBook for the traders. Account management seems to be more client/marketing focused.

I am currently a senior about to graduate this spring. I have signed with a reputable MM bank for an SA position in one of their southern offices. My overall goal, in the short term, is to land a front office role at a bulge bracket investment bank, wherever I can.

I'm a rising senior graduating in January 2013 at a target/semi-target (think Ross/Stern/UVA). I've completed a couple PWM internships at two different BBs (didn't learn a goddamn thing) and in the Fall of 2011 did an internship at a boutique fund of hedge funds.

Whats up guys, I currently am a third year student at Texas McCombs School of Business. Over the course of 4 months I have been fighting hard to help land a Summer Analyst internship and it sucks to say I have lost this battle.

Hey everyone, Longtime lurker first time poster, and thought now would be the perfect time to look to you guys for some advice on my current situation. I'll try and make it as short as possible, because if I just let the words spill onto the keyboard I would be writing an essay today. Long story short: I'm a rising senior at a semi-target university on the west coast, that typically places well in LA and SF but not so much elsewhere. I have a 3.54 GPA, am part of the Honors Business Program, and have been in charge of my fraternities rush for a couple semesters now.

Heard a rumor that a junior from my college (top target) received an internship offer from a BB (for S&T in NY). What makes this story different is that he/she was offered a guaranteed full-time spot, and along with that an FT salary of roughly ~2x regular compensation (i.e. base of $150k, with potential for the usual bonus). Apparently, the head of the S&T/Markets division personally called this person to give them the offer. Is it possible any of this is true? I know the student in question is very smart, hardworking etc., and they had interned at a similarly reputable firm their sophomore summer. But a guaranteed FT spot, and 2x the salary?

Hey everybody, I'm currently a senior at a non-target looking for advice for FT and I appreciate any advice. My college has no FT finance recruiting so I've been networking as much as possible since the beginning of the summer but I haven't had much luck and almost all positions are full at this point. I have a pretty good resume, I had an equity research internship at a NYC MM as a sophomore and this past summer I worked at a large fund where I analyzed a few industries (like BDCs and REITS) and created presentations/analysis on the diversification of the underlying loans. I also have top GPA and very good extracurriculars if that matters.

How big of a bump would the GMAT be for full time recruiting for IBD/S&T if I scored over 700? 750? I know recruiting is getting underway soon, and I've been studying for a little while now. However, I'm not sure if I should take it in two weeks (which would be useful for recruiting) or in a month or two (which would be right in the middle of the season and if I scored well might be too little too late). My profile: 3.75 from semi-target (no OCR, lots of street alum) I have connections at a lot of the banks in IBD or S&T (different people at different banks) Spent 15 months working in the BO for a BB (including this summer and last summer)
