Wells Fargo IB is not the place to be right now. Banking has become more of a taxing job than it has been recently because of all that's going on (we all know this). It's a sweatshop over here and everyone is putting in 100-hour weeks like

Want the SparkNotes? We got "banker speak" for nothing. But you don't need a SparkNotes because it was only a whole 30 seconds or so on an hour-long call. Senior Leadership on Junior Banker CIB-wide call: "We saw the materials and saw the forum" - nice, I would hope so. "We're exploring resources and solutions" - as you said you have been for months on end now… and as you SHOULD be at all times… without a deck or forum or having to tell me lol. "We've set a net zero emissions target for 2050" - sick bro. So what value did any junior bankers at WF pick up from the call? Please chime in because

Hi everyone, I wanted to create a post about my process on GS for Junior Analyst in IBD. Sadly I did not get it but anyways. Context: Applied in Mexico City, 2 years of experience in AM and from a mexican target school. 1.- Apply through the page 2.- Webinar of general information (No filter yet) 3.- Steps 1 and 2 were in January 2021, and in mid february I got an email saying I have passed to the next round (HireVue interview) 3.1.- HireVue Interview was really easy, general questions like walk me through your Resume, and situational ones like "What would you do if a client is asking you to

Hey all, does anyone have concrete examples of what Goldman's end of year bonuses (paid out in August) look like for analysts? I know there is a "Goldman discount" and they get paid on the lower end, but any numbers you know of in the past would be helpful - for both first and second year. Do some groups pay higher than others? For example, I believe TMT makes up like 40% of IBD's revenues, so do their analysts get paid slightly more in bonuses?

hii I have never posted before and this is a bit scary but I think it is worth it to go the lengths to hear all the opinions I can. I know this is a very privileged problem to have,, and thank you in advance to everyone who helps out,, but I have received offers from both GS LA and MS SF. Both of them IBD and both of them are the healthcare groups. I really am struggling to figure out which one is the best to choose because honestly I don't think there is a bad decision here but I think there may be a better one. Here are some of my thoughts: Location: SF would be preferred--I go to school

Got an offer from one of the first three banks. How do these firms compare in terms of exit ops and long-term prospects to GS/MS and Centerview, which recruit later?

I was invited to attend Goldman Sachs 2022 West Coast Healthcare & Consumer / Retail Investment Banking Summer Analyst Insight Day on April 23rd. Then they invited me to complete a HireVue and then a few days later got an invitation for an interview. I was just wondering if anyone has gone through this process? If so, what were the type of questions during the interview process? Anyone else got invited for an interview?

I've been looking into the Private Equity Group within GS AIMS recently (saw a posting a few weeks ago) and noticed a lot of former analysts were able to exit into PE buyout shops, despite the group doing primaries / secondaries / co-investments, rather than LBOs. Would anyone have insight into why this is the case? I've been reading forums on here that have said it is tough for guys in these sort of FoF roles to get into direct LBO shops, but it seems this happens routinely at GS AIMS PEG. Any insight would be appreciated!

I will be as honest as I can and will love hate or advice regardless what it is. I transferred to a target school a year ago as a junior, if you look at my post history it will explain everything. And after being there for a year I've slowly re-evaluated everything. IB was the most promising career that would be lucrative with time whether it be going to PE or whatever else. Although after coming to a point, doing a random accounting internship this summer, just so I can have the opportunity to recruit for next summer, (which if I put the effort in I will land something, and just started the

Although there are existing WSO posts that try to aggregate opportunity for diverse candidates, this one aims to be an exhaustive list that includes all the introductory programs and formal internship pipelines offered by firms on the street so candidate are aware of these opportunities. I'd like to start the 2018 Veteran Integration Program thread this year. I'll be applying as soon as the application opens...Last year it was mid-October. Who else is applying this year? In past years the application entailed an online resume screen, followed by a Hirevue interview with several questions. Successful candidates then went on to a superday before offers were presented in February/March. Please share your background and desired divisions. Hi all, I have a question that I haven't been able to really find any answers to online. If you think you've seen a thread before that addresses the question I have, please feel free to post it. I'm largely looking for people's opinions/advice. I currently have a position at Goldman Sachs (Compliance. Yes, I know. But, I graduated in the middle of a pandemic. Life happens.) and will qualify for internal mobility next October. I have a master's in statistics (thesis relating to financial mathematics) and have passed the first CFA exam. So, I feel confident I should be able to get into a revenue

Hello, Just wanted to ask if there was an official/unofficial groupchat for Goldman Sachs 2021 summer analysts. If not, I'd be happy to create one, as I think it would make summer logistics/insights/socialization easier.

Hi Monkeys, as you may know, GS SA can choose two teams within IB for their 2 summer rotations. What would your recommendations be based on team culture, prestige, WLB, etc? They normally advise to do 1 rotation in a product group and 1 in an industry team, but I might be more interested to do both with industry coverage teams. Appreciate your thoughts/insights

Hi guys, I am in a weird situation and would love to hear out some opinions. Two months ago, I started working as and IBD analyst at one of the top 3 IB banks in their NYC HQ. However, I managed to get (what I believe is) a better job opportunity for me in the meantime and now I am thinking about quitting the IB to join the other company. Honestly, the work I have now is not so bad, but I feel like it's not for me in the long term (the hours, culture, some parts of the work...), whether the other opportunity feels quite perfect. If I had it three months ago I would choose it over my current

Hi all, This entertaining post is for the history and financial history monkeys out there. What is your favorite financier of the past and why? I'm wondering what your thoughts are on this. I'm 1/4 Irish and 3/4 German. I come from a wealthy family, but they wouldn't even pay for braces. My teeth are a bit crooked (almost done invisalign in two months), two small chips due to playing spots, and kind of small due to my genes (parents also skimped in whole milk, quality fish, etc...). I really don't want to be held down due to this minor (perceived) flaw. I've always been the brightest and would rather do technology sales than be held down for life in a place like NYC. I can either spend 25-30k on my teeth or put it towards a

Hi everyone, hope all is well. Question for any of you that have been through the Goldman process, or at least early stages. I'm enrolling in one of their Insight Days then will apply for SA 2022. For the insight day, it asks to submit a resume "containing no proprietary information which includes previous employers...delete these before submitting to Goldman Sachs..." Before asking this I searched online but only found more standard resume advice, not any information on a non-specific resume. I 'm a bit confused how a resume without company/job information would even be helpful at all. Do any

I am currently going to be working as an Investment Management Sophmore summer analyst this summer at GS, and I was wondering if anyone could provide some insight surrounding the feasibility of transferring into IBD for next summer. Would it be just as difficult as someone who was not already working at the firm? Since applications are released during my internship in July, would it look poorly for me to switch divisions at such a time? Thanks in advance!

The Current Promotion Cycle for Investment Banking Analysts So recently I got word that Goldman Sachs is announcing a pretty dramatic policy shift in the promotion cycle of investment banking analysts right out of college. Traditionally, investment banking analysts would work for two years and then jump to a private equity firm, hedge fund, start up or some other role in corporate finance. The rare breed that could withstand the 100 hour work weeks would sign up for a third year. Most of the best & brightest would move to greener pastures where they could work a measly 70-80hrs/week on average

Can someone provide insights on Wedbush Securities (LA)? Specifically their ER dept? What % of summer interns get full-time offers at Wedbush? And what do the exit opportunities look like? This via Marty Chavez, Goldman Sachs's incoming CFO. What are your thoughts? [quote]TechnologyReview.com: At its height back in 2000, the U.S. cash equities trading desk at Goldman Sachs's New York headquarters employed 600 traders, buying and selling stock on the orders of the investment bank's large clients. Today there are just two equity traders left. Automated trading programs have taken over the rest of the work, supported by 200 computer engineers. Marty Chavez, the company's deputy chief financial officer and former chief information officer, explained all this to attendees at a

David Tepper grew up in a middle class neighborhood in Pittsburgh, PA. He became interested in the stock market after observing his dad, an accountant, trade stocks during the day. Following high school, he enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh, where he excelled. After Tepper graduated with a degree in economics, he found a job with Equibank as a credit analyst. He quickly became bored with the role and enrolled in the MBA program at Carnegie Mellon's School of Business, now named after him. Tepper's experience at Carnegie Mellon helped him learn options theory at a time when there were no textbooks written on the subject. Kenn Dunn, the Dean of school of the school himself taught these option courses.

Just wondering, for someone coming straight out of undergrad, how does GS Investment Banking compare with GS Merchant Banking? Would you say they're equal in opportunities, but just different in the projects covered? Or is one better than the other/it depends on the group you're with for each division? Would appreciate any insight from those more experienced!

Hey guys, Very hard to find information on Goldman Sachs' buyside operations. From what I understand Merchant Banking and SSG have been merged into one entity now referred to as Merchant Banking. Let me know if my findings are correct: From what I understand, the Merchant Banking team acts like a PE firm (using Goldman's balance sheet as opposed to LPs) that also does mezzanine financing and distressed debt and real estate. The SSG group acts like a hedge fund and invests in distressed debt, start-ups, event driven catalyst equities etc Not sure how Goldman Sachs Investment Partners fits into

Can anyone provide insights into the key differentiators between GS Asset Management and GS Merchant Banking? They both seem to have some cross-over in terms of strategies, however, the line between the two is murky. It would be helpful to learn about the difference in Analyst / Associate / VP lifestyles, comp, career progression between the two divisions at GS.

Hi, the question is pretty simple. I will be summering at a US BB in a month (junior internship, summer 2021) and they are holding a virtual information session at my school for summer 2022. What's the etiquette - should I attend the info session? Should I attend, but drop when it comes time for break-out rooms? Would it be different if the info session was in person? I'm probably overthinking this but still wanted to get your take in case I missed out on some unspoken protocol. Thanks.

Hi ! I am a high school senior with a 3.7-3.8 gpa and a sat score of 1460. I got a mail from Stevenson Institute of Tech today stating that I've been shortlisted for Priority Application through the college board student search service. I'm not sure as to what that entails apart from a priority merit scholarship consideration and if it's a marketing gimmick. Also I saw that it has a decent rep for it's engineering but since I'll be applying for Economics or Finance (up for discussion) and want to break into IB, PE or consulting in NYC(in that order of preference), what's the rep for business

I've read plenty of threads on this forum asking questions along the lines of "which desk is most profitable/more desired/"baller"/allows me to start a supertight hedge fund in X years/prestigious/has the best upside and opportunities etc". The answer is NONE of them and ALL of them. By far the most important thing to consider are what are YOUR interests and particular skillset, then target appropriate desks. There is no point joining what half this forum thinks is a "baller" desk at GS (i.e. GSPS) when you are neither 1) interested in equities/credit 2) have little ambition to do balance sheet analysis/valuation. I did a rotations with them last yr on the summer programme and thought it was one of the most boring places on the floor.
