Already signed the offer where I also interned for the US but requires H1B application (33% chance, Tier 2 bank). This is why I continued searching for other offers and received one for another financial hub where I do not require a visa but it is not my preferred company. The Shanghai/London/HK offer (Tier 3) will conduct background checks (contact past employers, school etc.) sometime after signing the offer. Is it possible that NYC, or even SH/London/HK, will rescind the offer once they get a call about a background check or will they understand as long as I tell them they are my preferred

Hi all, wasn't able to find posts on this/ don't really wanna bring up to HHs. International currently working in the US. Worked 2 years in BB IB and then 3 years at MM PE shop and headed to MBA (HSW). How hard is it to get sponsored for VP positions i.e. H1-B (I already have a H1-B but been used for 3-4 years). Do funds sponsor green cards at the VP level too?

Just a public service announcement for fellow international monkeys - The H1B visa freeze was extended by President Trump until March 31, 2021 citing "The effects of COVID-19 on the United States labor market and on the health of American communities is a matter of ongoing national concern, and the considerations present" in the previous proclamations "have not been eliminated," as the reason. This was early in the year, in case someone wasn't up to date.

I am an international at a semi-target. A professor who helps with IB recruiting here said I will be better off considering either: - Masters in Finance right out of college to get a 3 year OPT extension - Try to recruit for foreign offices (London, HK) which may be more lenient with visas Which way should I prefer and what should I be considering? Are there any other options to increase my chances?

International sophomore at a non-target I think I like restructuring and I know should be looking at EBs if I want to go down that path. As an international, I am just wondering which EBs are likely to sponsor visas?

I am obtaining a STEM master's degree from a non-target school. The estimated graduation date is May 2021. One year of full-time experience in PE at STT. There is a lot of mixed information about which banks are still sponsoring international students. Does anyone have an updated list of banks that still sponsor for 2021 positions?

I'm currently a Canadian student with hopes of getting into a target school in the US and immigrate there in a couple years. I'm not an American citizen so I was wondering how this process works for me. Most people say the H-1B Visa is usually how people get a job at most banks but now the process for H-1Bs has been made stricter with the base salary having to be 130k which I don't think any banks will give as a first year analyst. I've also read about a TN Visa which is for Canadian and Mexican citizens only. I've heard that this is only for working if with no intent to immigrate. I also don

Hey Guys, Does anyone know if Barclays sponsors F1 international students for the 2018 summer analyst position in NY? I started my application last night and was told that I was ineligible after completing the SEC affiliation questions etc. Was wondering if this was a bug or if it was to do with sponsorship. Cheers

For those of you who need H1B Visa sponsorship for entry-level, can we make a list together to identify investment banks that don't sponsor h1b? I found an earlier post back in 2010 with a list but it should be out of date. As far as I know, Wells Fargo and Piper Jaffray don't consider international students for their analysts at all. It could be wrong but let's make an up-to-date list together. Thanks a lot!

So any international monkeys screwed by the H1-B Lottery? Unfortunately it seems I didn't get picked so will be heading home in the summer Unbelievable you work your ass off for 2 yrs to get a gig and then your fate is decided by a random lottery with no sense of merit Any others have had an experience with H1-B over the years? Share your experiences (or of people you know) What was your plan B if it didn't work out!

Hey everyone! How hard is it to get into IBD as an international student? Is it extremely hard like some fields such as medicine, or is it more forgiving and accepting such as law? Are companies generally willing to sponsor visas for international students to work as analysts, etc.? What about internships during the school year, is the process of obtaining those any different? Thanks for your time and help. (P.S. I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I tried searching and it was giving me thousands of posts about interns as opposed to internationals.)

Currently in my 3rd year at a BB on H1B. Will file for an extension this year for 3 years but was wondering how to plan my career with only a few years left in the US. Hoping for some advice here.

Found this while monkeying around and looking at MSF and MMS a while ago, thought it would be helpful for fellow international students. Kudos to folks at McIntire who compiled this list. http://www.commerce.virginia.edu/careerservices/Documents/USbasedemployers2008-2014.pdf I've also attached a different version of the list. Same title, but different list with some different companies.

For many of us international students here in the U.S., the most dreaded time of our professional career arrives as we are about to graduate with an undergraduate degree, more specifically in finding a company what is willing to offer us H-1B sponsorship; also known as the "Person in Specialty Occupation" Visa. Once international students have used up all of the 12 months available through the OPT (which I've addressed in my earlier posts), international students are basically left with very few choices if they are to remain legally in the U.S., with most students opting to acquire an H-1B

as some of you might have known, the h1b cap for 2013 has been reached, which messes the whole thing up for me.. im currently under opt which expires feb 2013 and i just accepted an offer at a prestigious tech company which starts soon (aug 2012) i havent applied for h1b and now the quota for 2013 has been filled. hence, i would have to wait till april 2013 to apply. my question is will the company rescind their offer back once they know that my opt expires feb 2013 and that i wont be able to continue working next year until my h1b starts in oct 2013? p.s: they CLEARLY STATED in the offer letter that they sponsor work visas.

I'm looking to start a 1-yr masters program this summer, and I'm thinking of starting to reach out to alums in IBD. I'm an international student, so I'll need H1B sponsorship. I understand that the banks that received TARP money have major hurdles towards hiring foreign students, but if the money is paid back, do the restrictions still apply? I'd be interested to know which banks are still hiring H1B workers.

Hi, do you monkeys know whether any BB had started working on H1B Visa application for this year? (for incoming analysts). Thank you in advance for sharing your info!

Hi all, Does anyone have an experience that the company doesn't dissuade international applicants to apply in the job description (and they also have records of sponsorship in the past) and then u got dinged when they invited you to first round interview and asked you to confirm that you won't need sponsorship? It just happened to me and made me really sad and annoyed with the fact you are qualified enough to pass initial screening but you didn't make it because you couldn't choose where to be born. Besides, both of us wasted time doing application and reviewing one more candidate's profile.

I have a question. I hope you guys can help me. I'm currently on OPT that expires in Feb 15, 2013... After Feb 15, 2013, I would have 60 days grace period to leave the U.S. 60 days grace period ends in April 15, 2013... My company said they will apply H-1B for me in April 1, 2013 for work starting in Oct 1, 2013.. (I'm not qualified for STEM OPT Extension) Since my opt ends before they could apply for me, cap-gap extension doesn't qualify for me and I would have to wait till Oct 1, 2013 to start work... I am thinking of whether I can go back to my community college ONLY for spring 2013 while waiting for Oct 1, 2013.. my questions are:

I graduated in December and accepted an offer from a big 4 consulting firm that helped sponsor my h1b petition (premium processing). Haven't heard back from USCIS yet so I'm getting pretty realistic about my status... HR and the law firm that helped me say we'll need to wait until official rejections (late May) to discuss next steps. Is anybody else in a similar position? What are you guys doing? Also, just out of anxiety... is the randomized lottery process truly 'random'? I can't even reapply next cycle as I started my OPT this February. Sigh.

i have a question.. How important is a resume in an h1b application? Do you need to submit a resume when filing the h1b application? The problem with my resume is that i have prior work exp there that i worked without legal work autho... And my employer is going to use that to apply my h1b for me... I am scared that my h1b will get denied because of this. All of those work exp were internships btw... Anyone knows or experienced this before? Thanks

Has anyone gone through the h1b Visa stamping process as a first year analyst? If so, how did you manage to travel across the border / take time off from work (heard first years don't get any vacation and the stamping process takes about a week) ? Also, if anyone has gone through the h1b Visa stamping in Canada, exactly how long did the entire process take? (review on other locations are also appreciated!) thanks.

I'm currently working for a BB on intracompany transfer Visa (L-1) and i understand if I want to jump to the buyside i will need them to sponsor my H1B - just wondering whether they are happy to help or whether that is a interview killer for these firms? Any input appreciated!

Hey guys, just thought I'd ask for advice as I am not too familiar with the Visa situation here in the US. I am almost done with recruiting but just wanted to ask about visas for internationals who work here in the US. I understand that most students out of undergrad receive a H1-B Visa however from my understanding if you have a masters or an MBA you receive a more permanent Visa which potentially leads to a green card? Is this true at the banks? Or either way do MBAs receive the same H1-B visas as the analysts do?
