Want the SparkNotes? We got "banker speak" for nothing. But you don't need a SparkNotes because it was only a whole 30 seconds or so on an hour-long call. Senior Leadership on Junior Banker CIB-wide call: "We saw the materials and saw the forum" - nice, I would hope so. "We're exploring resources and solutions" - as you said you have been for months on end now… and as you SHOULD be at all times… without a deck or forum or having to tell me lol. "We've set a net zero emissions target for 2050" - sick bro. So what value did any junior bankers at WF pick up from the call? Please chime in because

Hi everyone! :) I am a Spanish graduate student attending an Ivy League university in the US (think Wharton/Columbia/Yale) studying finance and economics. I know I want to work in the Buy Side but I am still unsure if I should do AM or PB. I appreciate work/life balance and I would like to work in EU (UK/ Spain/ Switzerland) after graduation. I have two interesting offers for this summer and both have pros and cons, so I am not sure which one to choose, given that both want me to intern with them on July-August. The positions and characteristics are the following: 1. Dodge & Cox -

Hi All, I am a Chinese international student studying in US, and I am lucky to get 2020 SA S&T offer from JPM, specifically for Sales Track. Do you have any recommendation on the desk placement? I am studying Econ in college, and I am not so good at math (mid-level). I am wondering where my edge is compared to the other kids? I heard Rates groups had many Chinese clients so maybe that would be a good choice? Thanks. Appreciate your insights.

Does anyone have any questions/insight into the Hirevue questions for JPMorgan Chase SA 2019 Asset Management in NYC? I'm assuming its behavior, but since this is my first hirevue-no clue. Also, is this a first round or still an initial screening type of process (automated or does it mean something?). Thanks

Which banks crushed it? Which flopped? My $0.02 below. Total global M&A deal value grew by 92.5% year-over-year for Q1 2021. Ergo a bank that grew M&A deal value by less than this LOST market share year-over-year and a bank that grew more than this GAINED market share y-o-y. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on this. I'm 1/4 Irish and 3/4 German. I come from a wealthy family, but they wouldn't even pay for braces. My teeth are a bit crooked (almost done invisalign in two months), two small chips due to playing spots, and kind of small due to my genes (parents also skimped in whole milk, quality fish, etc...). I really don't want to be held down due to this minor (perceived) flaw. I've always been the brightest and would rather do technology sales than be held down for life in a place like NYC. I can either spend 25-30k on my teeth or put it towards a

Hi guys, I am in a weird situation and would love to hear out some opinions. Two months ago, I started working as and IBD analyst at one of the top 3 IB banks in their NYC HQ. However, I managed to get (what I believe is) a better job opportunity for me in the meantime and now I am thinking about quitting the IB to join the other company. Honestly, the work I have now is not so bad, but I feel like it's not for me in the long term (the hours, culture, some parts of the work...), whether the other opportunity feels quite perfect. If I had it three months ago I would choose it over my current

Intro I am an incoming IBD summer analyst for JP Morgan. HR said that group placement will be announced in March, so I am trying to narrow down my top choices. Two Questions 1. Which groups provide the best experience? I heard that Healthcare, M&A, FSG, FIG, DI, and T/MT are the best so far, but I would like to hear the forum's opinions. 2. How important is networking for placement into these top groups? (I go to a non-target)

Also, will there be another phone interview after this or straight to superday? Any insight or advice is appreciated. J.P. Hi all, This entertaining post is for the history and financial history monkeys out there. What is your favorite financier of the past and why? Most of us have read about the Weinbergs and Rohatyns of the past but I'd like to hear about the less known but equally inspiring figures of the 20th century and older. Cheers! Torero

I just recently finished my freshman year with just above a 3.7 GPA at a target school and I want to double major in either Math and Economics OR Math and Philosophy (and maybe add a minor if I have time). I'm also involved in 4 organizations on campus, and I'm on a committee for 3 of them. 3 of the orgs are also business related. As I'm going into my sophomore year, I'm curious what exactly I need to do to make myself stand out to most banks and have a shot at the top ones. I'm currently doing a financial services internship so I'm getting experience but I'm also debating if I should take a

Whenever I was asked this question, I never gave a bullshit answer. I said that obviously the hours aren't a pro of working in this industry, but its not something that i necessarily mind and it will help me learn a lot. I also brought up my student loan debt and that I really wanted to pay it off. Interested to hear other perspectives on this.

Happy Friday everyone!, Hope you are all excited about the weekend. I have received two offers so far from both JP and GS as the title indicates. I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice or insight on the programs and which would offer better opportunities in the future e.g, B School, or transitioning into a FO role like IB, S&T. If anyone has gone through the Global Finance internship could you also shed some light on the program and how it went for you? Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I have a super day with JP Morgan's commercial bank for the 2018 Summer Analyst position with their MM Banking and Specialized Industries Group. I initially wanted CIB, but I guess they want me to interview with MMSI instead. I'm not quite sure as to what the position entails. From the research i've done so far, it seems like this group gives out loans to middle market businesses. So I feel like the position is focused on risk and financing solutions? The super day is for their NYC office. The super day is October 27th. This is also my first super day ever, so any insights would

I currently have multiple offers from BBs in Hong Kong (to preserve anonymity, I won't say which ones, but a few are considered here "top BBs"). I know the US reputations of the BBs, but are things the same/different in Asia (for example, is GS TMT still considered the best, followed by MS M&A)? None of the offers is group-specific, and my only considerations are reputation and exit opps to PE megafunds in Asia (KKR, Carlyle, Bain Cap, etc.). With that in mind, how would you rank the BBs in Asia?

BUT [quote]The effort is still in its early stages and may not come to fruition, the people said. The talks with financial firms are Amazon.com Inc. AMZN is in talks with big banks including JPMorgan Chase & Co. about building a checking-account-like product the e-commerce giant could offer its customers, according to people familiar with the matter.

Hi, Background: I'm a rising junior at a top target (think Harvard/Wharton) and I'm looking to get a 2019 summer internship at a bulge bracket bank. In highschool, I had solid extracurriculars (a lot of student government, debate, and continent-level recognition for leadership) and grades (2350 SAT, 44IB, etc). In college, I messed up my first semester GPA really badly so rn I'm resting at a 3.33 going into junior year. I still have quite a lot of extra curricular activities in college and I'm currently a private equity summer analyst at a firm with usd2+billion aum in Singapore right now

I summered in a GS coverage group this summer (not FIG or TMT) and did not like my experience (loved the work but didn't like my coverage industry and wasn't crazy about my intern class or the people in my group). I go to an ivy that is not Harvard or Wharton and is very common on the street. My goal is to do PE after my two years in banking. This last week I began receiving calls from places that I got offers from and turned down at the beginning of the summer. It seems as though the following groups are willing to offer me a chance to switch there FT and I wanted the opinion of some of the older people on here in regards to the reputation of these groups and how they'd be viewed by various exit opps: Lazard (generalist offer but 95% would be in restructuring) JPM (FIG)

I have offers for summer analyst positions at JP Morgan Investor Services (hopefully in the Prime Brokerage team) and at Nomura IBD, both of which are in London. My long term goal is to work in IBD and eventually cross over to PE so Nomura makes more sense for developing my skill set and showing my interest in IBD. However, the JP Morgan brand is obviously stronger than Nomura. Does anyone have any thoughts about which is a better choice strategically considering my career goals? Thanks a lot for you input!

I'm curious about one thing: what exactly places JPM one notch below GS and MS? Is it the quality/pedigree of the bankers? Is it the transactions they work on? Is there some unexplainable mystique about GS and MS that JPM just doesn't have? It seems like bankers from GS,MS and JPM are all top notch and have that traditional blue-blood pedigree, and they are currently ranked 1,2, and 3 in M&A activity this year while JPM leads the league tables in total fees, so I guess I'm confused about why everyone talks about MS and GS as if they are in a different league. I'm not trolling or anything here, I'm genuinely curious. Also, does the perceived superiority of GS and MS mean that JPM analysts have a (relatively) difficult time landing PE jobs? thanks for the info

I have the possibility of joining one of the following groups at JP Morgan in London: M&A FIG Natural Resources Industrials TMT I'd be very interested in getting any feedback from someone who might have insight into: +work hours (I'm guessing FIG might have the longest) +amount of modeling done +responsibility early on (I hear the M&A team is pretty young) +transferrable skills for a non-banking position later on (think Capital Markets, this might be the same for all groups though) +size of the group (balance between Senior and Junior people) +anything else that might be helpful in getting a better understanding of them Thanks in advance!

Well we all herd the rumor. We will find out truth tomorrow. Think it will happen? There is a rumor circulated on Wall St. that JP Morgan (NYSE: JPM) will take over Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) within the week. The government will support the deal with a $100 billion investment in preferred shares issued by the combined entity. Alternatively, the government may guarantee the value of a large pool of Bank of America assets. The word is that Treasury Secretary Geithner has discussed the transaction with JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon. The "merger" would completely destroy the value of BAC's common shares. http://247wallst.com/2011/08/23/jp-morgan-may-tak…

Apologies, I know TSS is not I-Banking, but I guess it is the closest given the categories I can choose from. I had a superday with JPM TSS ten days ago (02/02/12). The interview went very well. The 1st interviewer kept saying things like "your resume is impressive", "you definitely have the skill set for this job". The 2nd interviewer shook my hand when the interview ended and said that he likes my passion. However, I haven't heard anything back from them for 11 days. The interesting part is that my friend received a rejection letter from the same program I apply to (yes, we are from the same school, and we are interviewed by the same person) last Friday. The letter she received says "dear candidates, thanks...". It is clearly a mass email, and I am clearly not rejected.

Hey guys just wated to get your opinion on a little predicament I'm currently dealing with. I am currently a Senior at an IVY school and managed to secure an internship on JPM's IBD program for this summer. Now I am aware that we are going to have to go through a background check/employment verification. Now this is all well and good as I have been completely truthful on my resume however for one of the Jobs I was fired for unauthorised absence (had family problems at the time hence why I stopped showing up) but I was only 17at the time. Does anyone know whether this means I'll have my offer rescinded? Also what is JP Morgans background check like if anyone knows? I would hate it if a stupid mistake I made when I was in high school would cost me my future career!!

Hello All! It's my first time on the site. I've been a long-time reader. I have received two internship offers from two commercial banks. My first offer is from Jp Morgan Chase in their Middle Market Banking and Specialized Industries. This program would most likely be in the city of Chicago. They do a lot of Cash Flow Lending for Working Capital Finance. Full time I've heard they pay 72k-75k plus bonus. It is a 3-year analyst program where you do rotations through Underwriting, RM, and Treasury Services. They are definitely a leading bank in commercial banking. My second offer is from Capital

Hey All, I've read a lot of topics here and I know some of you guys are way more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to IBD vs AM and specific firms. I've got a specific question I hope you guys could help me out with. What are your thoughts on compensation/exit opps/the street's view/etc. on these guys? I'm thinking of going HF or PE or maybe going an entrepreneurial route but would prefer taking one of these jobs first. IBD: Jefferies (Seems to get bashed alot...whats the deal w/ these guys?) Nomura (What is Wall St.'s sentiment towards these guys right now? How are they performing, etc.?) AM: T Rowe Price (Prestigious? Kind of in B-more...not the most idealistic place to be)

Hey Monkeys, Interviewing with Point72 and the top BBs in the next few weeks and was wondering how you would think about which option to take. For someone interested in investing in the long term, at what point would you take a BB over P72 in terms of bank/group/exit opps etc? How do you think reputational risk factors in? Looking forward to hearing your feedback.

Hello All, Just for fun, I thought it would be interesting to get everyone's take on the top 10 groups in investment banking considering reputation, dealflow, senior leaders within group, overall prestige, etc. I totally recognize this is subjective and shouldn't be used as a way to make employment decisions. With that said, what are YOUR top 10 groups across BB, EB, MM, etc?

JPM has a 2-3 year old platform in their IBD called the Family Coverage Group. They essentially provide M&A advisory services to middle market customers originating from their private banking / commercial banking platforms. I'm aware that there are some posts on this website regarding JPM's Mid Corporate Investment Banking, but I'm not sure that this is the same thing. Hey guys, was looking to get some advice. Im a 3rd year student. I have a summer analyst offer from JP Morgan Treasury Services (NY -- this is front office) and also a couple of internship offers from boutiques, such as GCA Savvian (SF), PNC Capital Markets (PIT), and potentially Duff & Phelps (CHI or NY). The goal is to go into BB IBD. Which would position me best for Full-time recruiting? I'm leaning toward JPM as the group seems to work very closely with IBD and I can potentially network my way in, and if not I'll be in NY so there are more opportunities. Thank you guys ahead of time.

This article was interesting because I know where I study everyone talk about total salary rather then net salary or any other measure to indicate wealth.
Questions: 1. Is asset accumulation going to become more/less important than total salary? Does the economy impact what assets you choose to buy? 2. What would you buy if you had the money? With his £390k, Lawrence has accumulated £4.2m in assets. a flat in Clink Wharf, currently worth around £1.4m, but purchased in 1995 for £285k; a house in Amberley West Sussex, currently worth £822k, but purchased for £618k in 2002 using £136k of profits made on a previous house sale, savings and investments (£640k), deferred compensation (£200k), a pension (£580k), pianos and art work.

Hello all, Just got an off-cycle internship with J.P Morgan London office for IBD. This is only due to start next autumn, because according to HR everything is filled already. I have graduated already, that means waiting 9 months for job to start. Additionally, I got interviews with PwC scheduled for their equivalent for IBD but for full-time. Would it be worth it doing that internship at JPM, with the hopes that I might or might not get full-time. Or should I just go for the full-time offer at PwC if I do get it. Appreciate all comments.
