Want the SparkNotes? We got "banker speak" for nothing. But you don't need a SparkNotes because it was only a whole 30 seconds or so on an hour-long call. Senior Leadership on Junior Banker CIB-wide call: "We saw the materials and saw the forum" - nice, I would hope so. "We're exploring resources and solutions" - as you said you have been for months on end now… and as you SHOULD be at all times… without a deck or forum or having to tell me lol. "We've set a net zero emissions target for 2050" - sick bro. So what value did any junior bankers at WF pick up from the call? Please chime in because

Does anyone have any questions/insight into the Hirevue questions for JPMorgan Chase SA 2019 Asset Management in NYC? I'm assuming its behavior, but since this is my first hirevue-no clue. Also, is this a first round or still an initial screening type of process (automated or does it mean something?). Thanks

Hi All, I am a Chinese international student studying in US, and I am lucky to get 2020 SA S&T offer from JPM, specifically for Sales Track. Do you have any recommendation on the desk placement? I am studying Econ in college, and I am not so good at math (mid-level). I am wondering where my edge is compared to the other kids? I heard Rates groups had many Chinese clients so maybe that would be a good choice? Thanks. Appreciate your insights.

Which banks crushed it? Which flopped? My $0.02 below. Total global M&A deal value grew by 92.5% year-over-year for Q1 2021. Ergo a bank that grew M&A deal value by less than this LOST market share year-over-year and a bank that grew more than this GAINED market share y-o-y. Source: https://markets.ft.com/data/league-tables/tables-… Market Share Gainers Jefferies: Made the Top 10 for global M&A deal value and grew global M&A deal value by over 800% y-o-y. Hats off. Hi guys, I am in a weird situation and would love to hear out some opinions. Two months ago, I started working as and IBD analyst at one of the top 3 IB banks in their NYC HQ. However, I managed to get (what I believe is) a better job opportunity for me in the meantime and now I am thinking about quitting the IB to join the other company. Honestly, the work I have now is not so bad, but I feel like it's not for me in the long term (the hours, culture, some parts of the work...), whether the other opportunity feels quite perfect. If I had it three months ago I would choose it over my current

Intro I am an incoming IBD summer analyst for JP Morgan. HR said that group placement will be announced in March, so I am trying to narrow down my top choices. Two Questions 1. Which groups provide the best experience? I heard that Healthcare, M&A, FSG, FIG, DI, and T/MT are the best so far, but I would like to hear the forum's opinions. 2. How important is networking for placement into these top groups? (I go to a non-target)

Hi guys, sophomore at non-target here. I submitted my app for JP Morgan IBD 2019 yesterday and just got invited to do a video interview. Anyone else get the video interview? Also, will there be another phone interview after this or straight to superday? Any insight or advice is appreciated. J.P. Morgan Investment Banking Interview Process Anyone going through the JP Morgan IBD application and interview process probably knows what to expect. You've done your research. You've networked with any contact you could think of. You've been active on the WSO IB forum. Congratulations on making the

Hi all, This entertaining post is for the history and financial history monkeys out there. What is your favorite financier of the past and why? Most of us have read about the Weinbergs and Rohatyns of the past but I'd like to hear about the less known but equally inspiring figures of the 20th century and older. Cheers! Torero

I'm wondering what your thoughts are on this. I'm 1/4 Irish and 3/4 German. I come from a wealthy family, but they wouldn't even pay for braces. My teeth are a bit crooked (almost done invisalign in two months), two small chips due to playing spots, and kind of small due to my genes (parents also skimped in whole milk, quality fish, etc...). I really don't want to be held down due to this minor (perceived) flaw. I've always been the brightest and would rather do technology sales than be held down for life in a place like NYC. I can either spend 25-30k on my teeth or put it towards a

Could somebody please make a bulleted list of all of the bulge bracket banks and include the core competencies for each bank at what they're best at? This would be to everyone's benefit who wants to learn the "scoop" on each of the big players

Whenever I was asked this question, I never gave a bullshit answer. I said that obviously the hours aren't a pro of working in this industry, but its not something that i necessarily mind and it will help me learn a lot. I also brought up my student loan debt and that I really wanted to pay it off. Interested to hear other perspectives on this.

I have a Wealth Managment Super-Day scheduled for this Friday after only doing HireVue, It's going to consist of a lunch and 5-30 minute interviews. What should I be focused on for preparation/does anyone have any personal insight they can share as to what I should expect? I'll be interviewing at a mid-western office. Appreciate any insight, thanks

Hi everyone! :) I am a Spanish graduate student attending an Ivy League university in the US (think Wharton/Columbia/Yale) studying finance and economics. I know I want to work in the Buy Side but I am still unsure if I should do AM or PB. I appreciate work/life balance and I would like to work in EU (UK/ Spain/ Switzerland) after graduation. I have two interesting offers for this summer and both have pros and cons, so I am not sure which one to choose, given that both want me to intern with them on July-August. The positions and characteristics are the following: 1. Dodge & Cox -

All, JP guy here looking to help out any incoming summer analysts who are most likely about to start the group placement stage. This is not an opportunity to ask me what group I am in, or seek my help in the placement process. I intend to remain anonymous and simply want to provide a legit, current, and accurate post on JP Morgan's SA program and placement process.

Does anyone who has done this yet remember the questions asked? I know the banking ones are up here somewhere but I haven't been able to find the real estate ones anywhere.

I couldn't find a thread about this so I made one.. Does anyone who got into the 2021 programs like "Winning Women" and "Advancing Black Pathways" know if they are interviewing for this program? Did they invite all applicants to the event?

- Is it true that Healthcare and M&A ask technicals if you set up a networking call with them during placement? What kind of technicals do they ask? 2. Are those the only groups with technicals? 3. What are the group rankings in terms of PE exit opportunities? 4. What are the group rankings in terms of bonus size (because you are working on a lot of deals, idk)?

Amazon is a just retail/tech company, right? According to this article, it looks like finance is the next stop for Amazon:
BUT [quote]The effort is still in its early stages and may not come to fruition, the people said. The talks with financial firms are Amazon.com Inc. AMZN is in talks with big banks including JPMorgan Chase & Co. about building a checking-account-like product the e-commerce giant could offer its customers, according to people familiar with the matter.

I just recently finished my freshman year with just above a 3.7 GPA at a target school and I want to double major in either Math and Economics OR Math and Philosophy (and maybe add a minor if I have time). I'm also involved in 4 organizations on campus, and I'm on a committee for 3 of them. 3 of the orgs are also business related. As I'm going into my sophomore year, I'm curious what exactly I need to do to make myself stand out to most banks and have a shot at the top ones. I'm currently doing a financial services internship so I'm getting experience but I'm also debating if I should take a

Happy Friday everyone!, Hope you are all excited about the weekend. I have received two offers so far from both JP and GS as the title indicates. I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice or insight on the programs and which would offer better opportunities in the future e.g, B School, or transitioning into a FO role like IB, S&T. If anyone has gone through the Global Finance internship could you also shed some light on the program and how it went for you? Thanks in advance!

Past posts on this topic seem outdated. About to go through JPMorgan investment banking placement over the next couple of weeks. I'm interested in PE, which groups will give me the best technical experience that also have enjoyable people to work with? Also what questions do groups asks during placement? Should I prep for technicals and questions on past deals or is it all about fit?

Hi everyone, I have a super day with JP Morgan's commercial bank for the 2018 Summer Analyst position with their MM Banking and Specialized Industries Group. I initially wanted CIB, but I guess they want me to interview with MMSI instead. I'm not quite sure as to what the position entails. From the research i've done so far, it seems like this group gives out loans to middle market businesses. So I feel like the position is focused on risk and financing solutions? The super day is for their NYC office. The super day is October 27th. This is also my first super day ever, so any insights would

Hey all, title pretty much explains it. I'm planning on applying to JP Morgan's Early Advantage program - but don't see any information about it on their website. Also interested in Winning Women program, but it says that applications are closed... do applications just open later than for other BBs? Any thoughts?

Hi, Background: I'm a rising junior at a top target (think Harvard/Wharton) and I'm looking to get a 2019 summer internship at a bulge bracket bank. In highschool, I had solid extracurriculars (a lot of student government, debate, and continent-level recognition for leadership) and grades (2350 SAT, 44IB, etc). In college, I messed up my first semester GPA really badly so rn I'm resting at a 3.33 going into junior year. I still have quite a lot of extra curricular activities in college and I'm currently a private equity summer analyst at a firm with usd2+billion aum in Singapore right now

Hello All, Just for fun, I thought it would be interesting to get everyone's take on the top 10 groups in investment banking considering reputation, dealflow, senior leaders within group, overall prestige, etc. I totally recognize this is subjective and shouldn't be used as a way to make employment decisions. With that said, what are YOUR top 10 groups across BB, EB, MM, etc?

Hey, I currently have offers from JPM in their wholesale payments division and form PwC for their management consulting associate role, both at the London office. my eventual aim is to make it to IB, either through an MBA or laterally (I know, I like dreaming). to achieve this, I don't know how I should proceed. While JPM would show my interest in finance, the role at PwC might be more client-facing and beneficial?

Anyone has heard back from JP regarding super days at their office in London? The deadline was 15/03/2020 and interviews should have been deducted in April. My application is still 'under consideration' after completing the HireVue interview. I read that JP has put new hires on hold because of the Corona situation. But I'm curious if anyone has heard back from JP regarding next steps?

I want to break into either consulting or I-banking. Trying to decide which school is the best fit to break into consulting or I-Banking. Do most firms see PennLPS like Columbia? A lot of my friends from Columbia have broken into investment banking. Just curious.

I currently have multiple offers from BBs in Hong Kong (to preserve anonymity, I won't say which ones, but a few are considered here "top BBs"). I know the US reputations of the BBs, but are things the same/different in Asia (for example, is GS TMT still considered the best, followed by MS M&A)? None of the offers is group-specific, and my only considerations are reputation and exit opps to PE megafunds in Asia (KKR, Carlyle, Bain Cap, etc.). With that in mind, how would you rank the BBs in Asia?

Does anyone have an opinion on JP Morgan's summer analyst program for private banking? More specifically - Which groups are the most desirable to be in? What are the hours/lifestlye/culture of the NY office? Is this a good place to start a career (considering all the regulations that are about to hit banks)? If anyone has any info I'd be really grateful.

Hi guys, Just wanted to gauge opinions on the forum about junior year SA offers my friend is currently deciding between. One is Wells Fargo IB (either in Charlotte or NYC, location not secured yet) or JPM Asset Management (NYC). He long-term goal is to be an investor, and he's been in love with the public markets for as long as I can remember. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I was just shown this site by a friend. With the amount of misinformation on here, I thought it reasonable to field some questions while I'm on vacation. My background is two years at JPM SLF and now finishing my first year at Blackstone. I'm happy to answer anything about the process, lifestyle, pay, etc. from the UG level all the way beyond b-school (as best I can). Please keep your posts organized, and your questions concise. Fire at will.

Hi WSO, I am currently sitting on two offers for next summer. I am currently a junior in college so this will my summer going into senior year. The first offer is within JPM. It is in their Alternate Assets group (JPMAAM) and with their Hedge Fund Solutions Group. I will be working in a CPM (Client Portfolio Manager) role. The second offer is within JPM's Investor Services Group and I will be in a sales role. Thank you in advance.

Hi I have an unofficial interview with an executive director at JP Morgan IBD in NYC. I wanted to ask about what the culture is like and what kind of people they look for in new hires. I've heard that people who work there tend to be pretty chill but do work and play hard as well. JP Morgan Chase Corporate Culture - New York City Generally speaking, our users spoke very highly of the culture at JPM. The culture was described as laid back, supportive, and full of nice people. I summered in a GS coverage group this summer (not FIG or TMT) and did not like my experience (loved the work but didn't like my coverage industry and wasn't crazy about my intern class or the people in my group). I go to an ivy that is not Harvard or Wharton and is very common on the street. My goal is to do PE after my two years in banking. This last week I began receiving calls from places that I got offers from and turned down at the beginning of the summer. It seems as though the following groups are willing to offer me a chance to switch there FT and I wanted the opinion of some of the older people on here in regards to the reputation of these groups and how they'd be viewed by various exit opps: Lazard (generalist offer but 95% would be in restructuring) JPM (FIG)
