How do you value each firm under the parameters (in order) of: a) Exit Opps, b) M&A Experience, c) Power of brand within the Financial world.

Any thoughts on this group? I know they're big in A&D in West Coast, but how's the culture/ops/rank/comp?

I was wondering if anyone had any recollections/info about the first round for Lazard Chicago Restructuring division. I've talked to alum who's heard it's quite technical but couldn't get much more detail other than that. Feel free to drop what you've heard/experienced below. Much thanks!

Hi, does anyone know if Lazard currently offer off cycle internships in London. Would appreciate help! Thank you.

I've found this website to be immensely helpful throughout college and the beginning of my banking career. I thought I would return the favor by having an informative discussion around the current elite boutique landscape in the U.S. (although EB bankers elsewhere feel free to chime in). I think it's fair to say that EBs are becoming increasingly popular choice for undergrads going into finance, especially at target schools. For context, I'm a former EB analyst who spent two years there before leaving for private equity. My initial thoughts here obviously reflect my experience, but they're

Anyone been hired/made it through the summer 2021 analyst interview process? I know there's a megathread for Laz but since no one's gotten back to me there, I'd thought I'd try here as well. Just want to see if I didn't make the cut, as the application has been pulled down from their careers site. Thanks to all of you who read/respond!

Whenever I was asked this question, I never gave a bullshit answer. I said that obviously the hours aren't a pro of working in this industry, but its not something that i necessarily mind and it will help me learn a lot. I also brought up my student loan debt and that I really wanted to pay it off. Interested to hear other perspectives on this.

Hi All, I'm currently an analyst at a EB (EVR / CVP / PJT) and business school has always been something I've wanted to do for various reasons, one of which is the optionality it provides for going abroad (originally from Asia). I know from personal sources that CVP sponsors MBAs, although I'm not sure what the clawback is / how long you have to stay after you come back from the MBA. I've been hearing EVR and LAZ also sponsor, although lesser known - although not from a personal source so not too clear on that. Do people have more visibility into who sponsors / what the terms are for

I was wondering if it is harder to land an offer from an elite boutique (Lazard, Moelis, Perella Weinberg, etc) or from a Bulge Bracket (Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, BofA Merrill Lynch, etc)?

Hey everyone, I have a second round interview for a Portfolio Analyst position in convertible bonds at LAM. I haven't really had asset management interviews before, and the first round was fairly relaxed - I spoke with the portfolio managers, they asked me kind of general things about my experience and what I know about convertibles, FX hedging, etc. The next round will be with 3 MDs and it will be twice as long (1.5hrs). Given the position is fairly entry-level, what kind of thing should I expect in an interview like this? The main responsibilities for the role are: assisting with control of

Hi there! I have an interview at Lazard coming up and prepared a response to the question "Why Lazard?". However, I am not sure if it is fully accurate. My thinking is that Lazard's business model as an independent financial advisory firm is very appealing. As I understand it, Lazard only advises and does not provide underwriting or "balance sheet bank"-like services and can therefore focus only on giving the best advice. This leads to lasting and meaningful client relationships which, in turn, allow the firm to give graduates a lot of responsibility early on and creates a more collegial work

Hey y'all, I have been sifting through WSO trying to find some info on Lazard (as a firm) and, more specifically, Lazard's Sophomore Diversity Days with no luck. The information/insight that I came across was either not relevant or outdated. That said, can anyone shine some light on: * What to expect/how to prepare for Lazard's Diversity Day * Lazard's current standing * Lazard's deal flow * Lazard's comp * Exit ops from Lazard * Any info you feel is relevant I really want to make a solid impression, so thanks in advance for this :)

Hi all, This entertaining post is for the history and financial history monkeys out there. What is your favorite financier of the past and why? Most of us have read about the Weinbergs and Rohatyns of the past but I'd like to hear about the less known but equally inspiring figures of the 20th century and older. Cheers! Torero

Hey Folks, I've just completed a Spring Insight (London) at Macquarie and been fast tracked to a super-day in May for their Infrastructure Debt Group (MIDIS). I found the work and the team super interesting and well-rounded. However my question is how to prepare for such a niche group. Is there some readings/books/models in particular I should look up? What concepts should I familiarise myself with and which website/resources would be a good start. Moreover I find International Development / Infra PE as my end goal but would love to dally in traditional finance too. I was also at the Lazard

We all know that Investment Banking is difficult to get into, and very time consuming once you are in it. You guys all work hard for your money and spend many hours of your day just trying to juggle in tasks without messing up. So how do you guys feel when there are: * Teenage Rappers making more money than you, without having a proper education and just using slang words over a beat with tons of bass, and charging $50k per show at a crappy night club. (Lil Pump.) * Athletes making tons of money (Kevin Durant, Lionel Messi, Lebron James, Odell Beckham Jr) while living the life with

Was wondering if anyone had any information on the full time recruiting process at MF's (BX, KKR, Apollo, TPG, Warburg, etc.) for undergrad students. I'll be at a top EB for my SA stint and, though I will most likely stay for FT, I figured I might as well at least try for a few MF's now since it might give me a leg up come associate recruiting. Any advice on how the recruiting process is structured and on how to do well in any coffee chats/interviews is appreciated. Thanks.

I have been given offers at both Lazard and Guggenheim IBD NYC SA positions. I am looking for information about the two firms. Comp? I know Guggenheim is more but how much? Culture? Learning experience? Exit Ops? I am not set on going buy-side but it is an option. Also, I would plan to do TMT at Guggenheim but unsure of group at Lazard.

Diversity recruiting has been the subject of several posts over the last few weeks. Although there are existing WSO posts that try to aggregate opportunity for diverse candidates, this one aims to be an exhaustive list that includes all the introductory programs and formal internship pipelines offered by firms on the street so candidate are aware of these opportunities. As new opportunities continue to be created, I plan to update this list. diversity investment bank programs The opportunities are separated into two buckets: introductory programs and internship opportunities. Opinions on Lazard vs. Rothschild (both NYC, full-time analyst)? Saw content on WSO, but updates were from 2011. I know both firms have changed a lot in the past few years, and am interested to learn more about their reputation, deal flow, experiences, offices, path forward, etc.

Hi everyone. I have a final round of SA interviews coming up for Lazard's NY office. Was wondering if anyone could give me any insight into the level of tech questions to expect. My first round only had a few basic technicals, but I'm prepared for paper LBO's, advanced valuations, etc. Any insight on what tech questions or fit questions to expect would be great. Also, if anyone has an idea of how the format of their super days are and how long it takes to hear back, that'd be great. Thanks.

Hey guys, So I know people have explained what PCA is on here, but can I get some insights about what an analyst does day to day? I know that the group focuses on raising money for funds and also advising funds on whether to sell their assets off or not but what specifically does the analyst do to support the process? Financial modeling to determine value of potential sell/purchase assets/interests owned by clients? Marketing materials to raise funds for clients? Market/industry research to support clients investment thesis? If I'm totally off, please correct me guys, but I'd be very

I was hanging out at my buddy's place last night and we were talking about vacation plans for after graduation. He talked about how I should be enjoying the last few months of school and go somewhere baller after graduation since I'm gonna get crushed once I start work. I never really thought about it before, but hearing it from him and looking at the calendar freaked me out. 'm still thinking about it a day later and it's making me pretty anxious... After graduation, I'm starting at a boutique that's supposedly a sweatshop (Moelis/Lazard). Looked at a bunch of WSO threads today and getting

Hi there, I received two summer analyst offers this past week, one from the Global Capital Markets division at Morgan Stanley, and the other from Lazard Feres. Both offers are for the NY offices. I haven't accepted either of the offers yet, and am leaning strongly towards the Morgan Stanley one. I'll list the pros of each below, and would greatly appreciate any advice/input. Morgan Stanley: Pros: 1) Great culture - My school (top-target) has a very strong network at Morgan Stanley, and the GCM division specifically. I have had great conversations with everyone from the GCM division, and feel

I'm starting full-time this summer at a boutique with solid M&A and RX franchises and wanted to get some info and advice before training starts. The firm is pretty well known (Evercore/Moelis/Lazard/Greenhill) and I have the option of going with either M&A or RX. I did not summer at the firm and so can't really pick based on culture. I also have no specific industry interest. As someone who's undecided between PE/associate promote/b-school, which route would offer me the best experience and most opportunities? Also can anyone speak to the differences between being in a dedicated RX team (LAZ

Wanted to get a better sense of how Lazard is doing as an IB. Have a few questions that I'd appreciate answered. 1) How is Lazard's reputation now? I know its historically been strong, but Evercore/Centerview are doing well. Is Lazard still as strong as it used to be? 2) What were placements like over the past year or two? How many went to megafund/hedge funds? 3) How is internal mobility within Lazard? Moving from M&A to RX, or to a different industry vertical 4) Which industry verticals are considered strongest/have best exits? 5) Which industry verticals are sweatshops? (not necessarily a bad thing, if they have strong deal flow) 6) How is comp for analysts? Thanks ahead of time!

Hi everyone, thanks for reading this in advance. I have landed an internship offer from Lazard HK, and probably can obtain a return offer after that. Read some posts saying that the dealflow at Laz asia was shithole 5 years ago. I'm wondering if that's still the case now. Anyone familiar? Let's say my ultimate goal is a tier 1 PE shop offer. Should take the FT offer from Laz HK, given its weak dealflow, or do a master first and try to get a BB offer first? Appreciate all of your comments!

Trying to figure out what industry/product focused teams have offices in San Francisco. Particularly interested in bulge brackets and e.boutiques as well as any consumer/retail focus If anyone could add to this list it would be greatly appreciated: Greenhill - advisory (M&A restx) Lazard - healthcare GS - TMT, generalist DB - Tech Barclays - Tech (Menlo Park) Moelis - Tech (Palo Alto) JPM - Tech Needed (in addition to any other groups that the above may cover): Evercore MS BAML CS Perella Weinberg Partners Peter J Solomon

Hi everyone, Have SA offers for each of these in London, Laz will be a random industry team, BAML is a generalist pool with bits of work from different industries (stick with one you click with, have met and really liked HC, could try to swing joining) and Barc is UK M&A. Most threads here focus on US recruiting - wondering if anyone could shed some insight on which would edge it out in the UK? Thanks!

Hi guys, I have a 1st round interview for the Summer Intern position with DC Advisory coming up this week. I will have 10 min conversation with Dartmouth Partners (ex Cornell Partnership) employee. Any idea what can I expect? Btw, this is for either London office. Additionally, there are very few threads here on DC Advisory and not much info. Anyone care to share their thoughts on the standard stuff - culture/pay/learning/prestige/exit-opps/top-groups/etc. This thread could be useful to future candidates and people interested in the company. Some stuff that I was able to get so far (German office, a bit outdated), so I can hopefully contribute something at least: - Intern salary - EUR 1500 p.m. + bonus (Germany) - Analyst base: EUR 65k - Associate base: EUR 72-90k

Whats the difference between in Big4 restructuring and restructuring team from Lazard, Rothschild, HL & other specialized IBs? I noticed the big4 have dedicated restructuring teams, and the job description includes items like (formal insolvency work; financial restructuring; operational restructuring; crisis cash management; impaired loan advisory services) in addition to hours/pay/prestige difference, can anyone speak to the actual day-to-day responsibilities, skills learned, exit opportunities from an analyst/associate's point of view? thank you so much for your help

Hey guys, Can anyone, with actual knowledge, provide some insight into the various M&A groups at Lazard. Specifically in terms of exit-opps, prestige, and culture of the group. I am mainly looking into consumer/retail, healthcare, TMT, and industrials. This is for the NY office. No offer offer in hand yet, but need some specific information on these groups to make a few decisions. I searched the forums but there isn't a lot of relevant and current information. Thanks!

So I have an interview coming up with Lazard MM and couldn't find much here specifically about their middle market practice. I just want to know some basic info about culture, hours, interview as opposed to Lazard the parent company. Is is that much different? or are they similar for the most part? I know there isn't as much prestige compared to the parent company. Also would like to know the hours because I am currently at a small boutique and want to know how the transition will be going from working normal hours to how the hours will be there.

I summered in a GS coverage group this summer (not FIG or TMT) and did not like my experience (loved the work but didn't like my coverage industry and wasn't crazy about my intern class or the people in my group). I go to an ivy that is not Harvard or Wharton and is very common on the street. My goal is to do PE after my two years in banking. This last week I began receiving calls from places that I got offers from and turned down at the beginning of the summer. It seems as though the following groups are willing to offer me a chance to switch there FT and I wanted the opinion of some of the older people on here in regards to the reputation of these groups and how they'd be viewed by various exit opps: Lazard (generalist offer but 95% would be in restructuring) JPM (FIG)

Non-banker here. Am I off-base in my understanding that elite boutiques sometimes advise on deals done by larger, BB banks? If so, could anyone flesh that out a bit and help me better understand what goes on there?
