The data breach of Yahoo in 2014 has made headlines yet again, but this time for a different reason. Due to:
And the fact that: "Certain senior executives did not properly comprehend or investigate" the hacks, the independent committee investigating the breach has determined, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The board has decided to strip Marissa Mayer (Yahoo's CEO) of her 2016 bonus. Marissa decided to give up an equity In addition, Yahoo's legal team, with sufficient info on the hack in hand, "did not sufficiently pursue it," the committee found.

It's no surprise that increasingly there have been talks of spin-offs, restructurings, and now an outright sale of Yahoo. CEO Marissa Mayer is constantly criticized for her managerial decisions at the company, and despite having four years to implement various aspects of her plan has not seen much, if any, success. [quote]Yahoo! Inc. will begin approaching potential corporate and private equity buyers as soon as Monday as the Web company seeks bidders for its core business, according to people familiar with the process. Companies such as Verizon Communications Inc., Comcast Corp. and AT&T Inc

Since taking over Yahoo back in July 2012, Marissa Mayer has been on a mission to transform the company into a modern web power player. Yahoo, with its massive and diverse array of content, is a portal for millions of people on the web. Whether you're interested in checking out share prices, reading up on your favorite NBA team, or entering a fantasy football league, you can do it, and much more, through Yahoo. With that said, Yahoo continues to get crushed in search and email and is seen as something of a dinosaur in the age of Web 2.0. Ms. Mayer's job is to make Yahoo cutting-edge again. As

Yahoo, the world's largest internet "portal" made a bit of a splash yesterday when it announced that it was scalping Google's Marissa Mayer to fill its recently-vacated CEO position. Per Bloomberg, the 37 year old Mayer joined Google in 1999 as its 20th employee. She is credited with maintaining the company's spartan home page for a decade and overseeing such products as Gmail, Google News, and image, book and product search. The mission she's accepted as CEO will be twofold... To bring back users who ditched Yahoo for Google and other sites To boost advertising revenue It's on her to fix the

Yahoo! is just on a tear with the acquisition strategy. Not half a heartbeat after being rebuffed by an idiotic French minister in their bid to buy Dailymotion, Yahoo! has decided to make a serious play for Hulu. Yahoo! is reportedly bidding $600-800 million for the streaming TV juggernaut, in addition to eyeing several other properties in mobile and communications. It looks like Marissa Mayer is trying to mold Yahoo! into Google. Google has a blogging platform (Blogger, which kinda started it all), now Yahoo! has tumblr. Google has/had Picasa, now Yahoo! has Flickr. Google has YouTube, now

Last Thursday Yahoo announced that they will hire Google's Marissa Mayer as their fifth CEO in as many years (The Kings article here). It is estimated that Mayer's total package will be $60 million over the next several years. There has been a lot of conversation surrounding the move with regards to whether the media equally portrays a social media executive vs. a similarly paid Wall Street executive. Imagine one of the BB CEOs being offered a similar package when the company they are hired to run is underperforming and the stock is consistently going lower. Watching and reading coverage about

After two months on the job, new Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer today held an all-hands meeting with employees to announce her turnaround plan for the company. We are starting to get details on what, exactly, she said. We're not going to describe our sourcing, because we want to keep people employed. The big points seem to be that Yahoo will work very hard on personalization and mobile. Mayer's strategy for mobile is interesting: apparently she is going to bring in people who can build great apps through "acqui-hires." Also, Mayer seems bent on hiring more talent into the company, giving that talent
