Why does this company include total Debt in its Market Cap?
Terreno, a REIT company, lists its Total Mkt Cap (4.13B) as Total Share Value (3.64B) + Total Debt (491M). Why does it add the Total Debt to its Total Share Value? Isn't the Total Share value also the Total Mkt Cap? Thanks

When calculating market capitalization for trading comps analysis, do bankers use basic (actual) shares outstanding or diluted shares outstanding? I heard diluted is often used because the market share price also accounts for potentially dilutive securities as well, but just wanted to confirm....

Why can't you use private companies as part of your public company comperables analysis?
I understand that it wouldn't make sense to use a private company in your calc of cost of eq or wacc BC private companies don't have values for market cap or beta, but why couldn't you use private companies in public comps ? Is it just because it's literally called "public" comps? Thanks in advance

Who cares about market capitalization if one company could have 5% of its equity outstanding in the form of stocks and another could have 50%? You see market capitalization everywhere but I don't understand how its any kind of useful thing to know about a company.
