Hello everyone, I've got an upcoming SONRU interview (after I passed the interviews and CV screening). Has anyone done it and if yes, can you please share some questions with me or point me to someone who can help (show off your networking skills)? I'm aiming for M&A. Thanks in advance!

I've noticed that UBS/DB both get so much shit from all over this site, but it seems like when I talk to folks who work on Wall Street and at several different BBs, they always talk about how they're still very respectable firms with good culture and people - great places to start a career for an ambitious 22-year old, even today. Is all the hate on this website justified? Is it not? What are your experiences at these banks and/or working with these banks? I accepted an SA offer at one of these two banks. Also: Please don't comment on here if you're in high school, freshman/sophomore, or not

Does anyone know where to apply to UBS Sophomore Global Banking 2021 internship? I found it on their website but when I click apply it just sends me to a general page with a bunch of other job postings.

Interested in what is in store for UBS in the United States. Are they expanding any of their divisions? Are they closing off any? Have there been any recent hiring waves of MDs? How will it stack up compared to its peers in the years to come? What do your exit opportunities look like from UBS?

Hi does anyone know which firms among the bulge bracket have the best cultures/deal flow in the Technology, Media, and Telecomunications space? Was wondering specifically for NYC offices that have TMT groups. I know that GS is notoriously known for it's amazing TMT group but any color on the other firms would be great. Is it accurate that: 1.) GS 2.) JPM 3.) MS 4,) Citi not sure how the others fare?

Hello All! Does anyone have experience with the UBS internal consulting group? Or have any general knowledge? They do process transformation and other strategy projects within the bank, but it's hard to find out information regarding culture, comp, WLB, etc. Any information is appreciated!

I've heard great things about UBS's culture and global presence, especially in LevFin/TMT/Industrials as well as FX/Rates on the floor. However, in the league tables they seem to take a big hit across M&A, ECM/DCM, and S&T. Even banks like RBC, BNP, SocGen, HSBC, and so on, tend to have an edge on them in the Americas on recent league tables. Is there something I'm missing here? Are league tables inaccurate in determining whether a bank is a "BB" or not, or is it because UBS is a smaller-sized bank that focuses mostly on PWM?

Hey guys. There are a few factors that I'm considering with these offers. (Keep in mind that I have already accepted BAML due to the fact that it had a short deadline and my UBS superday couldn't be moved up before the deadline) IF I TAKE BAML PROS - I like the company better - Company has a better brand name/deal flow - I could potentially move internally to BAML IB (a stretch but still possible) CONS - It's not IB (my ideal role) IF I TAKE UBS PROS - It's IB (my ideal role) - Easier to move to other IB positions at other banks for FT CONS - Probably will get blacklisted from BAML - My

I currently have three offers for this summer, Wholesale Payments at JP Morgan, Public Finance Investment Banking at UBS, and Account Analyst (aka a general alternative investments intern) at PIMCO. My number one concern is not necessarily working in investment banking, rather I want to intern somewhere that will give me a variety of skills and leave a lot of doors left open in terms of exit opportunities. Since I am not 100% certain in what I want to do, I want to leave myself with options. Which of these three internships do you believe will allow me to do that?

Has anyone heard back from UBS for its Off-Cycle Internship in Global Banking? (London Office) I applied in late September to the programme, I passed the SJT and the quantitative test, and then I did my video interview. However, it has been more 4 weeks since then and I haven't heard back from them. Is anyone in the same situation? Has anyone been invited to the next stage? I think the programme starts in January or February, so I imagine they should be interviewing people.

Hey guys, I gave my interview for the GTP program in London a few weeks ago and haven't yet received a reply. Just wondering if anyone has received any updates till now?

Anyone on here have any personal or second-hand experience to pass on regarding working at one of UBS' Wealth Advice Centers? There's one in Weehawken, NJ, and one in Charlotte, NC. Seems like a decent way to get into the industry (I'm transitioning out of the military), but with relatively low pay ($50k base & opportunities for commission), but you're not working with HNW/UHNW like I would ideally like. Any thoughts, experiences, or feedback would be great.

Was hoping people could lend some insight into these three firms. I would be looking to do M&A at UBS/Gugg or RX at Rothschild. Specifically, what are the exit ops like from the three places, I want to eventually do PE and want to know which would give me the best chance to end up at a good firm. (All NYC)

I just got an offer letter, and it mentions that base pay is 40$ an hour, but that only the training week is eligible for overtime in the letter. Why is this true? I thought all interns were overtime eligible.

Hi Guys, So I'm caught in a bit of a dilemma. I am coming from a non-target school, graduating in a couple of weeks with Finance degree, 1st gen college student. Didn't do BB summer internship, but I went overseas and worked at a 2B+ hedgefund as an equity analyst for summer internship (they only hire CFA charterholders for analyst positions unfortunately) I happen to be in a very affluent town that has a lot of ppl in finance who tried to help me, but most BB fill the 1st yrs with summer analyst positions. So I'm not worried about the networking...I am interested working in Equity Research

Diversity recruiting has been the subject of several posts over the last few weeks. Although there are existing WSO posts that try to aggregate opportunity for diverse candidates, this one aims to be an exhaustive list that includes all the introductory programs and formal internship pipelines offered by firms on the street so candidate are aware of these opportunities. As new opportunities continue to be created, I plan to update this list. diversity investment bank programs The opportunities are separated into two buckets: introductory programs and internship opportunities. What are your thoughts on the following banks in terms of company culture: Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citi, Barclays, and UBS? How is the culture of their investment banking divisions in particular?

Curious to know if anyone has worked or interned in either UBS or CS Private Funds Group (PFG). They do private placement/capital raising on both the primary and secondary level. I was curious to know what the hours, lifestyle and culture was like in these groups. Given the longer term nature of PE fundraising, I get the sense these groups don't exactly work traditional banking hours...but maybe I'm wrong. Appreciate any info or thoughts regarding hours, culture, lifestyle specifically. (...and yes, I realize that fundraising gives you a very different skill set and exit-ops opposed to

Mod Note (Andy): Best of Eddie, this was originally posted in October 2013. Like many of you I'm sure, I was a bit shocked to hear of Simon Warshaw's retirement from UBS on the heels of the massive Vodaphone deal. Part of me says he's just going out on top after 27 years, but another part of me thinks it doesn't add up. I mean, why leave months before bonus season when you've just closed a monster deal? Evidently I'm not the only one to think that. According to Sarah Butcher, it may have been office politics that drove him out, and she goes on to wonder if UBS has become the most political

Both are NYC Investment Banking. Leaning heavily towards UBS because of fit and because of DB's recent layoffs but want to hear more. Commentary on good groups at both also appreciated

Hi All! I've been on the forum for a while, haven't contirbuted much and have more-often-than-knot been latently absorbing the knowledge from others. All of this great info has nevertheless left me a bit confused about the industry and the associate level recruiting into it. I am going to be recruiting for summer associate position in the coming fall for Summer'17 and would like to get myself in a better understood spot than I am in now. Please forgive me if any part or all (hopefully not!) of this has been asked before (spare the monkey s#@t ;-) ). I am envisioning an all-encompassing

Have generalist offers for all three, trying to identify which to pick. Top groups at all three would be good, as a lot of information I keep finding is a little dated. Not necessarily looking to exit but would want to pick the firm that would give me the most options

I was asked to finish a pre-recorded interview a week ago and have yet heard back from the recruitment team. HR is really vague in the video interview invitation so I wasn't sure if it's just part of the application/ a first round. Seems like most BB are doing the video interview thing this year so I assumed that's a first round? I might be wrong. Anyways, one week, still no words. Any thoughts? Has anyone received a invitation already? If not, anyone who applied also got the video interview? Thanks! What is the UBS Unlock Your Potential Program? I'm a second/third year analyst at a BB Private Bank in the Southeast US, and need advice on where to take my career from here. The way I see it these are my options at the moment: - Climb the ladder at my current bank and try to move internally - Go to business school (would only go to top 15) - Find a job elsewhere doing something I enjoy The pay is great and all, but the it's not the path I want my career trajectory to take. The technical aspect just isn't there, lots of mundane administrative duties, old/bad technology, and I'm afraid continuing in PB/PWM will hinder my future career

Does anyone know anything about this job posting from UBS? I don't think they have opened full time analyst applications yet, and I also know that most BB's don't have traditional RX groups due to issues with being a lender, but it sounds legitimate. The posting does mention it is "a new focused client effort" ----- Restructuring Investment Banking United States - New York Investment Banking Are you solution oriented? Do you always have an eye toward improving processes? We're looking for someone like that who can help us: – identify and meet client needs, coordinating with client coverage

UBS has been aggressively poaching talent from top boutiques and BBs (see WSJ link inside this post) and has been on some of the biggest deals of 2015. With many of their European peers in uncertain territory, do you think UBS is poised for future success? How should prospective monkeys evaluate offers from UBS given this seemingly upward trajectory? Hi, I had my final round interview with UBS AG (London) on thursday for sales and trading. I thought the interview went well, but I still haven't received anything (whether I got an offer or rejection). It's been three days so I'm getting worried. Do I still have a chance?

Hi guys, As many of you may know, Credit Suisse's CEO Brady Dougan is being replaced by Tidjane Thiam in June, and many analysts are speculating that Thiam will downsize the securities and investment banking arms by as much as 3,000 positions in 2015. Do you guys think CS will go the same way as UBS at this point? Personally, I have an interest in equity research and actually find the day-to-day of a sell-side analyst quite interesting. CS supposedly has a strong reputation in ER, but will the change in management direction affect this franchise? Thanks.

Hi all, I have been offered grad roles for a small mid-market US-based firm (15 people) and a BB (generalist). I loved the people in the MM firm, and I really like Consumer/Retail as a sector, which it is strong in. Plus I generally feel like I prefer smaller offices where you can get to know everyone individually. However, the BB has a very obvious advantage in its brand name... being a generalist across almost every sectors could also be a good thing. Any advice? Thanks!

In starting the networking process and looking into Houston banks more, I have had a lot of people steer me away from UBS Houston. Was curious if people could offer more insight as to UBS Houston?

Hi Guys, So one thing I've been really trying to figure out is Equity Research or Investment Banking. I interned for 6 months in Equity Research and loved it and am studying for CFA. I loved the process, and consider myself not too quantitative and can give presentations/talk to people well. I haven't have the IB experience, but am also interested. However, it seems as if I might start off in Investment banking. Would I be able to transfer from a small IB firm to BB Equity Research? I plan on going for my CFA level 1 and also would have the 63, 79, and 82. Also would I be able to transfer from

Hi WSO, Assume you're a sophomore in college, and you have an offer for an internship this summer. Don't know how structured the internship will be or what group or anything, but it's FO. You have another promising lead at a different European BB firm, but it is exactly that: promising as opposed to material. Do you say yes to UBS or bank on a different offer? Main concerns:

Last week I was looking through various investment bank websites, and I found an "Investment Banking Challenge" at UBS. Unfortunately the registration for the contest opened today, and I found that the schools it is offered to are all overseas. Does anyone know of something similar to this? I believe if you did well in this contest you won an interview that I'm sure lead to a pretty good shot at their internship. Link: https://www.ubs.com/microsites/ubs-investment-ban…

Hi all. Just wondering about thoughts between UBS and Vanguard as for reputation? I am considering going to UBS GTP WMA for a summer internship but also for Vanguard's College to Corporate (C2C) internship program. Both programs feed into the companies' respective rotational programs. I know pay of UBS will be higher, but I do want to do Institutional Investing. The problem is, with the summer internship at Vanguard, you do not choose where you are placed. A lot of interns end up working in a call center, which does not seem interesting to me. Will the UBS GTP internship help if I want to

The internal changes at UBS are real, and I know everyone on here talks about it in negative light. From my collection of information from people on the inside, they are not cutting their 'Investment Banking Division', but rather certain groups related to fixed income trading and other market making groups. It sounds that the change will be affecting S&T as a whole, rather than advisory groups within IB, which people on here seem to believe. (Does this have anything to do with the LIBOR scandal?). I also heard a lot about how UBS has to hold more capital against their credit, but this is

Which would you select given both offers? Has anyone done either sophomore program and can shed light on their experiences, possibilities for junior year, and more particularly the reliability of DB?

One common criticism I hear on the street is UBS, the U've Been Sacked bank, or Ultra Bullshit Shit bank has a poor reputation. Either through routinely failing institutional clients by wiring money incorrectly to a counter-party while they're in the middle of a lawsuit. Or finding their contracts don't mean very much when the words 'capped-fees' is just there to charm, it's misnomer in Swiss-German that means it's uncapped; a kind of screw you get out clause.. But the bank is also known for the billions they've put into R&D in dark pools, brokerage, the sheer numbers of starts-up in their rather activist, but also interesting, long-term investment strategy.

Is anybody here applying to the UBS Voyager program this year? Seems like the information about it on WSO is pretty vague (have already searched). Does anybody know if this will actually give attendees a leg up on the application process, or if it's just a glorified corporate presentation?

I am a sophomore at Baruch College majoring in Applied Math. And I am interested in a career and a summer analyst internship next year in credit risk at a BB IB. I heard that Baruch is recruited heavily for middle or back office. Front office not so much. Since risk is middle office I want to know if the BB IB recruit from Baruch for credit risk/ risk management?
