Want the SparkNotes? We got "banker speak" for nothing. But you don't need a SparkNotes because it was only a whole 30 seconds or so on an hour-long call. Senior Leadership on Junior Banker CIB-wide call: "We saw the materials and saw the forum" - nice, I would hope so. "We're exploring resources and solutions" - as you said you have been for months on end now… and as you SHOULD be at all times… without a deck or forum or having to tell me lol. "We've set a net zero emissions target for 2050" - sick bro. So what value did any junior bankers at WF pick up from the call? Please chime in because

Hi does anyone know which firms among the bulge bracket have the best cultures/deal flow in the Technology, Media, and Telecomunications space? Was wondering specifically for NYC offices that have TMT groups. I know that GS is notoriously known for it's amazing TMT group but any color on the other firms would be great. Is it accurate that: 1.) GS 2.) JPM 3.) MS 4,) Citi not sure how the others fare?

Diversity recruiting has been the subject of several posts over the last few weeks. Although there are existing WSO posts that try to aggregate opportunity for diverse candidates, this one aims to be an exhaustive list that includes all the introductory programs and formal internship pipelines offered by firms on the street so candidate are aware of these opportunities. As new opportunities continue to be created, I plan to update this list. diversity investment bank programs The opportunities are separated into two buckets: introductory programs and internship opportunities. Hello everyone, I've got an upcoming SONRU interview (after I passed the interviews and CV screening). Has anyone done it and if yes, can you please share some questions with me or point me to someone who can help (show off your networking skills)? I'm aiming for M&A. Thanks in advance!

Interested in what is in store for UBS in the United States. Are they expanding any of their divisions? Are they closing off any? Have there been any recent hiring waves of MDs? How will it stack up compared to its peers in the years to come? What do your exit opportunities look like from UBS?

Anyone have insight on the GFO group, specifically the relationship management team as far as culture, team dynamic, base + bonus numbers (Associate Director, Director and ED levels)? Department description: GFO is a joint venture between UBS WM and IB division -- supports delivery of inst'l and corporate solutions to FO clients, and prospecting, building long-standing, cross divisional relationships and delivering products, services and advice to the largest FO clients.

I currently have three offers for this summer, Wholesale Payments at JP Morgan, Public Finance Investment Banking at UBS, and Account Analyst (aka a general alternative investments intern) at PIMCO. My number one concern is not necessarily working in investment banking, rather I want to intern somewhere that will give me a variety of skills and leave a lot of doors left open in terms of exit opportunities. Since I am not 100% certain in what I want to do, I want to leave myself with options. Which of these three internships do you believe will allow me to do that?

I've heard great things about UBS's culture and global presence, especially in LevFin/TMT/Industrials as well as FX/Rates on the floor. However, in the league tables they seem to take a big hit across M&A, ECM/DCM, and S&T. Even banks like RBC, BNP, SocGen, HSBC, and so on, tend to have an edge on them in the Americas on recent league tables. Is there something I'm missing here? Are league tables inaccurate in determining whether a bank is a "BB" or not, or is it because UBS is a smaller-sized bank that focuses mostly on PWM?

Was hoping people could lend some insight into these three firms. I would be looking to do M&A at UBS/Gugg or RX at Rothschild. Specifically, what are the exit ops like from the three places, I want to eventually do PE and want to know which would give me the best chance to end up at a good firm. (All NYC)

Hey guys. There are a few factors that I'm considering with these offers. (Keep in mind that I have already accepted BAML due to the fact that it had a short deadline and my UBS superday couldn't be moved up before the deadline) IF I TAKE BAML PROS - I like the company better - Company has a better brand name/deal flow - I could potentially move internally to BAML IB (a stretch but still possible) CONS - It's not IB (my ideal role) IF I TAKE UBS PROS - It's IB (my ideal role) - Easier to move to other IB positions at other banks for FT CONS - Probably will get blacklisted from BAML - My

I've noticed that UBS/DB both get so much shit from all over this site, but it seems like when I talk to folks who work on Wall Street and at several different BBs, they always talk about how they're still very respectable firms with good culture and people - great places to start a career for an ambitious 22-year old, even today. Is all the hate on this website justified? Is it not? What are your experiences at these banks and/or working with these banks? I accepted an SA offer at one of these two banks. Also: Please don't comment on here if you're in high school, freshman/sophomore, or not

One common criticism I hear on the street is UBS, the U've Been Sacked bank, or Ultra Bullshit Shit bank has a poor reputation. Either through routinely failing institutional clients by wiring money incorrectly to a counter-party while they're in the middle of a lawsuit. Or finding their contracts don't mean very much when the words 'capped-fees' is just there to charm, it's misnomer in Swiss-German that means it's uncapped; a kind of screw you get out clause.. But the bank is also known for the billions they've put into R&D in dark pools, brokerage, the sheer numbers of starts-up in their rather activist, but also interesting, long-term investment strategy.

Hey guys, I am an undergrad from the UK and have Spring internship offers from BlackRock and UBS. I was stunned to get UBS, and am delighted to get BR now too. However, they both overlap and I don't know which one to pick. For BlackRock, I would be in Financial Markets Advisory and for UBS, it would be in IB/S&T/Markets. The thing is I can't decide between the two firms and the divisions. Both seem really interesting. How is FMA BlackRock? How is UBS?

The internal changes at UBS are real, and I know everyone on here talks about it in negative light. From my collection of information from people on the inside, they are not cutting their 'Investment Banking Division', but rather certain groups related to fixed income trading and other market making groups. It sounds that the change will be affecting S&T as a whole, rather than advisory groups within IB, which people on here seem to believe. (Does this have anything to do with the LIBOR scandal?). I also heard a lot about how UBS has to hold more capital against their credit, but this is

I know people on this forum treat UBS like it is a clear tier below the other bulge brackets, and most act as if they would choose boutiques over it. I think that sentiment was certainly justified as they were quite unstable with many layoffs and their healthcare group jumping ship. Now that the economy is recovering, I'm wondering what people think or working in IBD at UBS. From what I hear, the culture was great (and hopefully morale has turned for the better by now). I believe it was a bank, like Lehman, that people generally enjoyed working at because they didn't absolutely crush you, and analysts often choose to stay for a 3rd year.

Hello All! Does anyone have experience with the UBS internal consulting group? Or have any general knowledge? They do process transformation and other strategy projects within the bank, but it's hard to find out information regarding culture, comp, WLB, etc. Any information is appreciated!

Hello all, need some advice. I'm wondering what everyone thinks about a UBS wealth management internship. It could be pretty much bullshit work, but it is a name. Please so bashing of the UBS name, its still a BB and people on the forum are in denial. Does not matter than has nothing to do with my question. Back to original question: has anyone actually participated in this type of internship? If you have been through this internship, what is your general opinion/experience ? Do you think the UBS name will be beneficial and considered when apply for SA position recruiting next year, even though it is not an IBD internship....... Please help me out, I am trying to find as much info as possible. Thanks in advance

Hey, I have done an internship in finance at ABB and now have to pick between Azimo and UBS for a second internship. Which company should I choose? Azimo people seem really friendly and I like the things that I would be working with, but UBS seems to be more recognizable company. It really got me thinking in terms of future prospects, I'm not sure if I should go with UBS just because it's a huge company and will serve as a big name in my CV, or I should go with Azimo. Both companies seemed really great during my interviews and their offers are quite similar (except for the money, UBS pays more

Hi guys, As many of you may know, Credit Suisse's CEO Brady Dougan is being replaced by Tidjane Thiam in June, and many analysts are speculating that Thiam will downsize the securities and investment banking arms by as much as 3,000 positions in 2015. Do you guys think CS will go the same way as UBS at this point? Personally, I have an interest in equity research and actually find the day-to-day of a sell-side analyst quite interesting. CS supposedly has a strong reputation in ER, but will the change in management direction affect this franchise? Thanks.

Hi Guys, So I'm caught in a bit of a dilemma. I am coming from a non-target school, graduating in a couple of weeks with Finance degree, 1st gen college student. Didn't do BB summer internship, but I went overseas and worked at a 2B+ hedgefund as an equity analyst for summer internship (they only hire CFA charterholders for analyst positions unfortunately) I happen to be in a very affluent town that has a lot of ppl in finance who tried to help me, but most BB fill the 1st yrs with summer analyst positions. So I'm not worried about the networking...I am interested working in Equity Research

UBS has been aggressively poaching talent from top boutiques and BBs (see WSJ link inside this post) and has been on some of the biggest deals of 2015. With many of their European peers in uncertain territory, do you think UBS is poised for future success? How should prospective monkeys evaluate offers from UBS given this seemingly upward trajectory? Hi All! I've been on the forum for a while, haven't contirbuted much and have more-often-than-knot been latently absorbing the knowledge from others. All of this great info has nevertheless left me a bit confused about the industry and the associate level recruiting into it. I am going to be recruiting for summer associate position in the coming fall for Summer'17 and would like to get myself in a better understood spot than I am in now. Please forgive me if any part or all (hopefully not!) of this has been asked before (spare the monkey s#@t ;-) ). I am envisioning an all-encompassing

I know UBS has gotten a rather bad rap on this site, and rightfully so. As many of you have heard, they deferred a good majority of thier 2009 FT class. I talked to my buddy, an associate at UBS here in NY, and apparantly, they will be rescinding some U.S. FT IBD offers in the next couple of months. Hopefully this is just a rumor to all of you wanting to get into IBD, but I figured I'd give people a heads up.

I got general offers recently from Barclays Capital, UBS, and Citigroup, all in NYC. Group placement won't happen until next year. UBS may be able to give me a group earlier. Which BB would you pick? I liked the people I met at all these banks...I don't have much time to decide... I want to exit to PE 2-3 years down the road.

Anyone on here have any personal or second-hand experience to pass on regarding working at one of UBS' Wealth Advice Centers? There's one in Weehawken, NJ, and one in Charlotte, NC. Seems like a decent way to get into the industry (I'm transitioning out of the military), but with relatively low pay ($50k base & opportunities for commission), but you're not working with HNW/UHNW like I would ideally like. Any thoughts, experiences, or feedback would be great.

The Swiss government is refusing to allow UBS to turn over client data to the IRS, and has threatened to seize the data themselves to protect client privacy and enforce Swiss banking secrecy laws: http://in.reuters.com/article/fundsNews/idINL8497…
"Switzerland will use its legal authority to ensure that the bank cannot be pressured to transmit the information illegally, including if necessary by issuing an order taking effective control of the data at UBS," the Swiss government said in a response to U.S. authorities filed in Miami on Tuesday.

Was wondering if anyone can talk about living and working in Stamford, I guess at UBS or RBS Greenwich or some of the hedge funds up there. Besides the work part, how are the apartments? Is there a decent nightlife? Bars, clubs etc. Obviously doesnt compare to NYC. Is it easy going to the city to go out or is it a hassle because of the commute?

Curious to know if anyone has worked or interned in either UBS or CS Private Funds Group (PFG). They do private placement/capital raising on both the primary and secondary level. I was curious to know what the hours, lifestyle and culture was like in these groups. Given the longer term nature of PE fundraising, I get the sense these groups don't exactly work traditional banking hours...but maybe I'm wrong. Appreciate any info or thoughts regarding hours, culture, lifestyle specifically. (...and yes, I realize that fundraising gives you a very different skill set and exit-ops opposed to

I know this topic has been discussed before but that was when Lehman was still around. I was wondering if ppl familiar with the area/banks would mind discussing which BB's (for IBD) in chicago are the best? Additional info about how big the offices are/hours/whether or not they execute from the office would be helpful too.

So my friend was one of the ones that got cut and he said so was 50% of the class. 2 days before bonus. Seriously, is it that bad out there still, or this has become the new norm in industry regardless of the economy etc.

Thought it would be nice to have a place to share info for those going to HK for FT in 2011! It would be great to talk about things like housing, comp, things to watch out for, etc etc!

I have interviews at both these firms and I was wondering if I do get both offers which one to take? Now I know UBS is traditionally much better than Jefferies but I don't want to lose my job and I want to see good deal flow. Please talk about the companies in general and not just healthcare or something. Would you guys pick jefferies considering ubs decline?

Hey. I am preparing for my UBS interview for SA in securities. I know they have an enormous trading floor in ct, but they also have a trading floor in Manhattan. I applied for internship in their nyc office and was wondering what kind of traders are there and what that trading floor is like. Im most interested in equity derivatives.
